I'll remember that the next time I see you advocate a player acquisition. Which would be your first, of course.
We're waiting for you to write the $76 million check.

So your gonna not want to improve the team, just because of one shot from a guy who wanted to win a game?Derek Fisher is the last player I want in SA, can you imagine how many times espn, tnt, abc, and every other broadcasting company would show the .04? It would get so sickening, I vowed I would never watch that clip again.
Uh ok....
Lately I've been advocating buying low, mainly D-Leaguers that are showing potential because that's what I follow and that's the kind of money that is available to us -- not buying at the very height of the market and overpaying some guy like Murphy that was guaranteed to never live up to his asking price -- even if he had been available. You haven't read them because, well, you're an idiot. Not much to be done about that.
Interesting that dumping Murphy propelled GS from the outhouse to the penthouse...he seems more like a Celtic affirmative action type than a Spur.
Damn, someone is raggin' tonight. D league talent ends up low on the Depth charts. Great idea.
The Spurs came really close to getting Fisher in the summer of 99. I remember Aldridge reporting it as almost done.
Fisher is a nice role player, but he is not worth $26 mil & Murphy? Please, a soft jump shooting PF? His contract is even more ridiculous. $50 mil. Had we signed the 2 players you advocated, not only would we be so far over the salary cap, but we also wouldn't have a chance to improve because of salary constraints. And I know, now is when you go on about Holt is cheap, etc...dude its old, be glad we have won 3 championships, we still have our big 3 & will be able to compete & have a chance to win the champioship for a few more years. Spending $76 mil on 2 mediocre bench role players is just stupid.
how about 36 million for six years? i think that's a reason that he isn't a spur.
as of right now, how much does the team need improved, we are up 2-1 in the WCSF. I dont want any other players if we win a championship, and if we dont its not because of our backup point guard play. It would be more of a distraction than anything.
Except when they end up starting for playoff teams
Murphy got $16 million to average 34 games the past two years. Great idea.

Yup, I remember that as well.
Fisher on the Spurs right now would make them unstoppable.
Hes Robert Horry but at the PG position.
I have no clue about contract specifications or whatnot but...
what is the reason why we couldn't get him when he left the lakers (right after .4?) or after he left golden state?

Not wanting any players if you win a ring is a very horrible at ude to take.
This summer, if the Spurs do win, will be a busy one.
Dallas will improve.
Phoenix will DEFINATELY improve.
Golden State will improve. New Orleans will improve.
You can't stand pat if you win. That at ude killed them after 05.
and it wasnt just ONE shot from ONE game. it meant a whole lot more than that. without that shot the Spurs couldve had a 3 peet.
well after the Lakers he wanted to be a started.what is the reason why we couldn't get him when he left the lakers
After Golden State? Stupidity.
So with that at ude,and it wasnt just ONE shot from ONE game. it meant a whole lot more than that. without that shot the Spurs couldve had a 3 peet
you wouldn't have signed Robert Horry.
Correct?
I guess thats just where we disagree. If it aint broke dont fix it. Thats always how ive looked at it. IMO the spurs were the favorites once again last year and if they wouldve gotten past dallas i really believe they wouldve won it all.
Horry missed that shot in the 03 playoffs in game 5 against SA, that was an omen to bring him here haha. And he didnt hit such a devastating shot against our Spurs, just other teams.
You werent a fan during 1995 against Houston were you....
The Spurs didn't get by dallas, because they didn't go out and get a Matt Barnes, or a Stephen Jackson type player.
The Dumper vs MB.
Nice match up.
You already have the rights to about 10 international players plus 3 picks in this year's draft. Prospects aren't a concern. The Spurs' 5 spot is at it's worst since the mid-80s. Elson is worthless. Oberto is savvy yet limited. Horry is retiring. Tim Duncan, one of the top 10 players of all time is entering the final stage of his career. I know, the solution is in the....D League. Great chat kiddos.
I somewhat agree, but with what capspace do you go and get guys?I know, the solution is in the....D League. Great chat kiddos.
No one wants Udrih, or Barry.
So your two trade options are out the window, what do you do then?
IMO, the MLE should be used on Pietrus, Barnes, or Nocioni this summer.
Chuck Hayes would grab a couple of boards.
Played 36 games more than Murphy this season too.
For the minimum.
Remember when he was available?
Of course you don't. You were too busy posting pictures of tractors.
Pietrus and Nocioni are pipe dreams for the MLE, IMO. I like Barnes, but not for that kind of money.
