.4 wouldn't have happened had the Spurs lured him when Marcus suggested.
He's been a big part of keeping the Jazz in this game tonight and now with the lead. Poise, leadership, experience, and calm. The perfect backup point for the Spurs right now. Too bad the Spurs couldn't have lured him away back in '01 or whenever. 0.4* wouldn't be seared into our memories.

It's funny that you posted this, because I agree 100%. I wondered why the Spurs didn't go after him. He is still pretty young and has won some big games. He is obviously much better than a lot of options out there.
When you don't want good players to be good against your team, you either beat them or get them to join you.
Fisher >>>>> Vaughn >>>>> HITA >>>>> Beno
Mario Elie, Jerome Kersey, and Robert Horry have donned the Silver & Black. Robert Fing Horry is now a Spurs Legend. How crazy is that?
Lured in 01? The year we begged Bruce to sign for the minimum? What were we going to lure him with When we had three point guards under contract?
yeah, I misread it the first time...
Whenever he was a free agent during the Lakers' run in '00-'02. Pop invited him out for a visit then.
Well, nice of you to narrow it down.
Nice of you to crawl up the ass of this thread.
Go bump your Troy Murphy thread.
Looks like it's a double fister tonight for the Kotex.
I think it was summer o 99.
Him and Lammond Murray were the FA targets.
Would've prevented 01 as well....
Its a shame the Spurs couldn't have swung a deal trading Brent Barry for him this past summer.
Spurs could have had him this summer. But yeah cap space or whatever is more important than having a real backup point.
Nah, not '99. Probably '01. Fisher had a couple rings by then, IIRC.
Fish has learned his place again. Playing with the 3-peat Lakers (and after 0.4), he got a bit full of himself and when it came time to re-sign, he wanted an outrageous contract and demanded to be a starter. Lakers let him walk. He signed with Golden State for way more than he was worth, then was benched because they realized that he's not as good as he thought he was and then traded.
Fish has value when he knows his role. He's a good guy and you gotta feel for him with all he's going through with his daughter. It was too bad that he took the stance that he did and had to leave LA.
I like Fisher, but $26 million is a bit steep for the last four years of his deal.
god the horse isn't even there anymore.Spurs could have had him this summer. But yeah cap space or whatever is more important than having a real backup point.
The beatings are now on the ground where the horse once laid.

Hmmm.
Chucky Atkins and Smush Parker, or Derek Fisher.
Hmmmmm.
Yeah Ill go with with Atkins and Parker
Great move Malcovich.
We got the PG we needed in the summer of 2001.
Fisher in the Spurs system would be deadly. Then again, with Jacque Vaughn playing like Jacque Vaughn again, a PG with a pulse would be nice.
But you usually can't find one with minimum contract offers.
What are we waiting for? I'd rather have Fisher than Vaughn and Murphy than Elson.
Derek Fisher is the last player I want in SA, can you imagine how many times espn, tnt, abc, and every other broadcasting company would show the .04? It would get so sickening, I vowed I would never watch that clip again.
I would rather have Kevin Dyson sign with the Bills. (Im a Bills fan)
