Have you seen him lately? he's making that money in Europe
"My father shouldn't have signed a 10-year contract."
The 'give Scola the minimum' advocates don't really grasp the situation. They don't know how good a player Scola is and would cripple the team with their principles that every good player should demand to play for chicken scraps just by asking. Na ga happen. It's dumb.
looks A LOT more athletic than oberto to me

You're right, I've only seen one full game with Scola in it. But I have seen other clips and parts of other games...but they have all been from very recent times.
But I really don't see the point of going back and "following his career," as what he's done in the past in his "career" doesn't really matter much now. What he can do at the present and what his game is capable of RIGHT NOW should be the main basis of evaluating how he'll fit with the Spurs.
All that you've read and "everything that's been quoted" might reflect a very great player in Scola. But I'm guessing a lot of it takes into context his career and his accomplishments....which are great. But what does he have RIGHT NOW? Go online, find some RECENT games of his and watch him. He is decent...but not much more. Better than Oberto, probably, but what is the cost of bringing him over??
I'm not saying he won't work out. He can. But people need to look at him realistically. Do we really need a Oberto V.2?? Yes, I GUESS he might have the potential to be better than that, but what is the risk?? and how much are the spurs willing to pay to take that risk??
Scola always looks bigger in vids than I expect him to. He has good size.
I think he's in-line to be Euroleague MVP this year...if not, he's certainly a candidate. How's that for recent?
The Spurs don't really want him. He doesn't fit the team needs, which is why they've been shopping his rights for some time. This may be the summer where it happens, since there are a few teams that need post scoring, plus it follows a year when not only did new international players like Garbojosa do very well, Argentinian big men and wings did exceptionally well, too.
(made a new post at the bottom)

There is a reason why the Spurs so quickly went after Oberto when Scola didn't work out.[/QUOTE]
yes the reason is Oberto was available while scola had millions to buy out his contract. genius
i guess those spanish league mvp voters don't watch games
I worded it like that because I have no idea what the Spurs would be willing to offer. I know it won't be star player money, but then again I'm not sure in what regard Pop and RC hold the guy these days. I also don't know what the Spurs plans are for the immediate future and if they are targeting any future free agents or players in the next couple of years.
I do believe that the Spurs would bring him over if they thought his play on the court and his personality in the locker room would be worth his costs.
He's probably thinking how much it's gonna suck when he has to play against the Spurs.
If he ever comes over, he will never put on a Spurs uniform. They will trade his rights this offseason.
Watch a game, any game. I'm not telling you to ignore the articles and praises that get posted here. But please, just watch a game...then tell me what you think.
You seem like a fairly intelligent guy, and I'm sure you'll have at least some insights after watching a full game of his. So it'd be cool if you can watch a game then discuss what you think with me.
Same goes for everyone else i guess. I don't know how many spurs fans have actually sat and watched a full game with Scola in it. But it would provide a good basis for all the discussion about him.
EDIT: And please don't take this as some sort of y, back handed insult from me and get all offended and stuff...
if SPURS sign Scola, then NBA would be a ROBBERY.
Scola is currently and arguably the best Euro player outside the NBA.
Scola looks like Carlos Tevez. and that's the worst compliment you could probably give a person.
It's the Scola Or Get Off the Pot offseason for the Spurs. Technically they don't have to do anything with him, but he still has value. There's still a chance he comes over as a Spur, but I do think it's unlikely - bad blood between the two sides and other Spurs needs leading them to trade his rights. But then things have to fall the right way - Chicago is an obvious trading partner, but what happens if they get their post players elsewhere? Other teams are offering second round picks, which is a joke... it may leave the Spurs to resign him, for that $3M figure, which is more than fine by me.
ALMOST EVERYONE HAS WATCHED HIM PLAY FULL GAMES.
Are you sure about that? Not even talking about Spurs fans in general (i don't know if that's what you're saying), but even in just this forum??
Hmmm...if that's the case...then I'll apologize and go watch some more Scola to re-evaluate.
most if not all watched scola play against the usa team
He plays for Tau, so it wasn't against Tau. He became the leading scoring in Euroleague history way before the Euroleague Finals. I think that happened against Roma in the round of 16.
By the way, I'm not saying you are wrong about Scola. Just that you sound like you don't know what you are talking about in that post.
