Scola/Duncan front court= REPEAT
FREE SCOLA
He is thinking he should be carefull to make the jump to the NBA because his game does not translate well (or at least this is what I read around here).
Anger. Frustration.
The guy could have been in the league at least two years by now.
those people don't know what they're talking about.
"Damn, my agent sucked."
"I shouldn't have signed a ten-year contract."
damm tony's girl is hot
He's thinking Spurs probably aren't gonna need another power forward.
"hopefully my agent will get me a quick 2 year deal so i can prove i belong and deserve a big contract"
Trust me...no matter what anyone else says on here, Scola is not much better (if he is in fact, better at all) than Oberto.
There is a reason why the Spurs so quickly went after Oberto when Scola didn't work out.
why should anyone trust you?
only 27, damn
Scola and Manu on the same team, energy would be insane
First of all, who are you and why are you to be trusted?
Secondly, do you realize how rediculous your statement is? If the Spurs were going after Scola FIRST, doesn't it mean they preferred to have Scola over Oberto. Yeah, I think I'll trust the majority of people...oh and that guy Oberto, who himself said that Scola was better.
And he just turned 27 this April, so he was 26 for the majority of the season...not sure if it matters, but it puts me at ease a bit.
So what exactly is scola's buyout this year?? I have heard 3 mil, is this true?
seeing how the Spurs get zero pt production from the low post, Scola would be a MASSIVE upgrade
then Spurs need to get much younger on the wings and we talking 2-3 more les
God knows.
Seriously, no one is totally sure. I'm thinking even Tau makes up a new figure every time.
It's probably $3M but he's said he'll buy it out himself if he has to.
Would he come over and play for the type of contract the Spurs would give him?
Okay, so don't trust me. Like most people, I use "trust me" as more of an introductory phrase than a command.
Watch the "huge," "monumental," "career-defining" game he had in the euroleague finals against Tau. The one where he became the leading scorer in Euroleagues history or something...
I really didn't see anything he could offer that Oberto can't come close to providing. Yeah he's a little more athletic...but he's not nearly the athletic specimen that some people claim he is. His post footwork? I actually like the flashes shown by Oberto against NBA talent during this playoff run more.
Whatever...I just hope the Spurs FO sees more of what I see than you see. He might be better than Oberto, but not by nearly as much as you think. And with the learning curve of getting into the Spurs system, especially as a starter playing a significant role alongside Duncan (yeahhhh....), I'm not sure it's worth the time, money, and effort to bring him over, even for the 2-4 million range.

rough... buy himself out!
bring him over. he's kinda ugly lookin, but I hope that means he's not afraid to mix it up like Manu.
Trick question... what's the contract the Spurs would give him? Would they offer him a $3M/yr contract? I believe he'd take that. He says his priority now is to get into the NBA.
He's probably worth the risk for a minimal contract...but beyond that, I say Spurs should back off. Maybe if we got him a few years back...he probably would be a significantly better option than Oberto right now. But today?? I don't know if the costs outweigh the payout.
I'm just saying...AT LEAST TO ME, he doesn't seem like that big a deal.
By saying "trust me", you make it seem like you've followed both of their careers intently and have some insight to offer as to whether one will be better than the other. It sounds like you've seen one game and are making your assessment off of that.
I'm not proclaiming to be a Scola expert, but from everything I've read and everything that has been quoted....Scola is the much more talented low-post player.
