I think the Spurs will now hold onto him and let his deal run out to lessen salary next summer.

Or would you rather have the $5.5 million that he is making be paid to say a young athletic Matt Barnes?
Duh... But I doubt those are the two options.

If Michael Finley sucks as bad this year as he did last year...we're going to miss Barry. Miss him bigtime. And I am nervous about moving Beno and Barry...which seems to be whateveryone wnats to do.

As for the rest of it...Barry is getting up there in years, doesn't fit on this team, and I am sick of the way he can do no right with Spursfans...so if you can move him for a good player do it...

Anyone that thinks Barry for Duhon is a good trade, is on crack.

IMO, he's the Spurs most valuable trade chip outside of the big 3.

He can shoot the ball, can play some PG, is a solid veteran, and has an expiring contract.

The Spurs can also afford to lose him, because Finley came back to be the "veteran shooter" for one more year. Assuming that the Spurs FO is smart enough to address a need (big 3/small-ball 4....a.k.a. Nocioni), Barry is dispensible.

Bottom Line: Barry is the most likely player to be traded because the Spurs can get the most back in return for him.

Just so we're clear on this one last time...

Brent Barry was #1 in the NBA in true shooting PCT last season.
He lead the team in 3PT%, 2%, PPS, PPFGA, and adjusted FG%.

And he only scored a half a point less per game than Finley in less minutes.

Remember this when Finley starts playing like Steve Smith....as he was and is showing signs of doing.

And not only that, his contract comes off the books this season...

Unless we are getting a good player in return...it's a mistake to move Barry.

2004-2005. Throw in Devin for good measure....

    Yes.
Does anyone remember when I was proven wrong for wanting to keep Heal because the Spurs won the le that season without him and their shooting was fine? If you do...get psychmeds.

IMO, how much $$$ Barry makes is what makes him an attractive trade piece to the Spurs.

Sure, the Spurs could trade someone like Finley, who is also a veteran shooter in the last year of his contract....but they could theoretically only get a $3-4M player in return.

Barry, on the other hand, can be swapped for a player making $6-7M...and players with that salary are more likely to be difference-makers.

So, I kinda like the fact that he's making $6M....

Why want most of the people see Brent Barry Traded?

The guy is important to the team in my opinion, he can play!

Sometimes he plays 10 minutes and has maybe 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and that's it. But for me he's someone very important to this team.

    Signed,

    Mrs. Barry

agreed, as far as trade value: 1 yr left on contract, veteran with championship exp., play multiple positions, great 3pt shooter, and professional on and off the court!!

I actually agree with Ploto to an extent - I think if they can't get something they see as a contributing role player for the future for him or in a trade involving him they keep him for his expiring contract and use the 5.5 mil and roster spot next offseason.

Brent Barry is a very underrated playmaker. I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around another year.

I want to keep Brent Barry here because:

    1)He provides veteran leadership.
    2) He and Erin are very involved in helping our community with their Run Walk etc
and 3) Brent is hilarious. The Tip Off Luncheon would not be nearly as awesome without him.
Is this a Club take? How in the does this crap relate to the scoreboard?

Isn't there an episode of Just for women on or something?

Hate to mention this too. But I remember TimVP was mad that the Spurs didn't sign Melvin Sanders because they were too cheap too?
