Why want most of the people see Brent Barry Traded?

The guy is important to the team in my opinion, he can play!

Sometimes he plays 10 minutes and has maybe 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and that's it. But for me he's someone very important to this team.

After a while, you need to let things go...yes he is a nice guy & good boost SOMETIMES(those times are getting fewer & farther between),this is a business..he is an expiring contract, & if you can turn Barry into a player that is going to help this team for the next 5+ years, its a no brainer, you trade him.

I want to keep Brent Barry here because:

    1)He provides veteran leadership.
    2) He and Erin are very involved in helping our community with their Run Walk etc
and 3) Brent is hilarious. The Tip Off Luncheon would not be nearly as awesome without him.

those are all good reasons for keeping your grandma on life support a few more days, but not for keeping a player on your team

Amazing how good he is at hitting shots when he isn't busy passing them up.

Compare his stats from his last couple of years in Seattle with his time here. That's enough for me. Thank him for his contributions and move him while he has value.

My grandma is dead. Brent Barry has brought back a little of the joy she added to my life and now you want to take him away too?

If the Spurs can trade Barry for someone valuable, or package him with Scola's rights, then they probably would. If they can't, then they will use him one more year as a 3-pt specialist, and then take advantage of his expiring contract next year.

Even if you can trade him for a young player with potential, it's a no brainer. The Spurs have enough veteran wing players.

Angel - I would too be sad because of the tremendous work Erin has done in the San Antonio community. (However, I don't think Brent is hilarious)

That expiring contract could attract some interest this year. I would not be surprised to see a trade involving Barry during the season.

    I have to agree.

I lived outside Seattle for years and saw lots of Sonics games.

I love Barry as a person, he is funny, he does great charity work.
And he does bring a lot to the locker room if not so much to the court anymore.

He has moments on the court but at some point you have to weigh it out.
His moments are too few and far between now.
It's time to get something back for him while we can.

I really don't mind having Brent Barry on the team. He is a good shooter (when hes not passing up open looks) and a nifty passer. He can definitely bring something to the floor everytime he steps out there. The problem is that while he is capable, he doesn't always step up. Hes too passive these days. His contract has value as it is expiring and his savvy leadership could help a young team. If the right trade comes along I am all for moving him, but if he spends another year on the team I'm not going to cry. He could be an asset at the deadline and might surprise us during the year like he did to start last season. All and all though, I think he is going to get in the way of the progress of a player like James White and so I'd probably be all for simply moving him and being done with it.

Reading this thread you'd think Brent Barry was the third WORST three point shooter in the league rather than the third BEST...

I got no problems with Brent except his age..

Brent makes more than Bruce. If Bruce is injured do you want Brent playing Bruce's spot? Or would you rather have the $5.5 million that he is making be paid to say a young athletic Matt Barnes?

He's getting old. He has incredible bball smarts, but he looks like he can't keep up anymore. The dealbreaker is his ridiculous $5m salary.

Not really, because his $5.5 mil salary is expiring & alot of teams could have interest in an expiring contract.

Ridiculous? You need to take a look around the league at what other players are making.
