    PJ Brown > Kurt Thomas

fact is spurs fans won't want to admit this but the suns will be an even bigger threat than last season. they have upgraded with hill and if they land Brown then they will once again be set for a le.

neg. Nash is one year older and his back is one year closer to retirement. His hair should have retired 3 years ago.

Keep telling yourself that. If Jason Terry keeps his hands off Michael Finley's junk, that series probably ends in six games. And if you want to talk about non-calls, how many over-and-back violations did Timmy commit that went "unnoticed" by the refs while the Spurs were clawing their way back from a 20-point deficit in Game Seven? The Mavs are a bad matchup for the Spurs, just like the Warriors were a bad matchup for the Mavs. Rock-Paper-Scissors.
The average Mavs fan also needs to realize that Dirt No sky also gets the star treatment. His phantom foul calls where he flails around like a drooler in shallow water when driving to the basket gets him alot of free throws.

If he actually grew a pair and drove the basket trying to finish, like he started doing against us last year, he would earn those phantom calls.

Yes, it's better to go out in the second round than for a young team to ac ulate Finals experience. I suppose it would've been better for Cleveland to lose to Detroit than to gain experience in the Finals. The Bulls should never have battled the Pistons year after year, ac ulating experience until they finally passed them. , are you for real?
Lets see... Mavs choke in Finals... Mavs choke in first round. How is that experience working for you?

P.J. Brown is way past his prime, and I just don't see how he could work in the Suns up-and-down tempo.

Dirk gets the star treatment because he's a star. There was no lopsided officiating in the Spurs-Mavs series. If you want to complain about this call or that call, I can do the same. It evened out...two teams that are about even, and it went down to overtime in seven games. If they played 100 times, it would be 51-49 or 50-50.

Com'on Findog, you're better then that. You know we got hosed in game 7, just like we all know the Mavs got hosed against Miami in 2006. If we're not careful we're going to start sounding like whiny, excuse making Phoenix fan.

The experience you guys got in last years finals didn't exactly help you much this year. The "bad match ups" and your Rock-Scissors-Paper theory doesn't hold water, because great coaches and great players ordinarily make adjustments throughout the season, the playoffs and the series. That's one of the reasons why the Spurs got the hardware again this year.

The Mavs shooters were hitting their jumpshots like crazy in the 2006 Mavs-Spurs series. Then they stopped falling against the Heat.

No, I don't think the Mavs got hosed against the Heat. I refuse to make excuses. We lost our poise and composure against Miami and paid dearly for it. Yes, Game Five was officiated in a one-sided manner, but we pulled a no-show in Game Four, we stopped running our offensive sets at the end of Game Three and didn't play a smart game in Game Six. That's three games that can't be pinned on the refs.

And I don't think the Spurs got hosed against us in that series. Manu clearly committed a foul. Duncan was allowed to get away with some over-and-back violations while the Spurs were making their comeback. Considering the game was tied going into overtime, if the refs call those, the Mavs win in regulation. I think the reason you guys lost that game is because Dallas came out on fire and shot 78% from the field in the first half, and San Antonio emptied the tank coming back. They simply had nothing left in OT.

And yes, the experience of the Finals will help this team in the long run. I don't know if this team will win a le or not, but it's just how it is. Sometimes you have to lose before you can win. The Spurs got their asses beat down by the Lakers before finally toppling them. The Bad Boy Pistons took their lumps against the Celtics, as did the Bulls with the Pistons. We lost to you guys twice before finally winning. The Heat had a lot more playoff and finals experience than we did: Shaq had 3 les and 5 Finals appearances, Riley had coached in umpteen Finals. On our side, Avery played in one Finals and so did KVH. Experienced teams tend to beat inexperienced teams.

The only way PJ sees any significant time is if he scores. D'Antoni has proven that he's not going to keep a guy on the floor just because he's playing good defense against Duncan.

Jumpshots are easy when you are playing against a defense that has to pack four guys in the paint in an attempt to prevent layups and dunks.

Ah, that explains it. I was having trouble parsing your post, and now it's clear: you didn't really have a point, you just wanted to make some anti-Mavs smacktalk. Fine, leave the X's and O's talk to the grownups, son.

And your finals experience sure didnt seem to help your team get out of the first round.
There will come a time in the next five years when the Mavs will advance deep into the playoffs and go up against another championship-caliber team. Having been to the Finals will be an asset. In seven years, Dallas has failed to make it out of the first round only twice, so it's the exception and not the rule. If you can't grasp that, then you're clueless.

I like PJ, but bottom line: if Kurt Thomas wasn't making $8 million, he'd still be in Phoenix and the Suns would be a bigger threat.
Yeah, PJ would be an even bigger boat anchor to their offense, and he doesn't have that nice 18 footer that Thomas sticks with regularity. People here are outraged when the Spurs make a pure cost cutting move, yet fail to recognize the same in our opponents. Thomas was a better option, he just made too much jack.

Easy there Demo Marcinko. If the "classy" Phoenix fan's see this comment they are likely to start launching full water bottles at your teams players.
