He has to want to play first.
The Forth Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Webber is close to signing with the Mavs for their MLE. It suggests that "if he signs with the Mavs, figure Brown heads to the Suns."
He has to want to play first.
If the Suns sign KG, I'll become worried. Else I don't really care.
PJ Brown > Kurt Thomas
fact is spurs fans won't want to admit this but the suns will be an even bigger threat than last season. they have upgraded with hill and if they land Brown then they will once again be set for a le.
Uh, I don't think so. PJ Brown sucks, and he's a horrible fit for their system. Kurt Thomas didn't even play regularly for Phoenix, he was just there for Duncan.
remind me what pj brown did against the pistons last postseason
I disagree. Careerwise, yes, but at this stage in their careers, the only advatage is that PJ will be cheaper.
C-Webb in the Mavs lockeroom could be possitive for us... he will be giving them his "deep playoff/champioonship" experience.... (6)
damn the Spurs win 3/5 championships and STILL can't get anyone to come to SA that's any good
FUKK
PJ Brown could be a decent signing for Suns to help them against Spurs (way better than Webber).
But a 38 years old PJ Brown will be a serious downgrade from Kurt Thomas.
Definitely. He would probably spend a lot of time on the bench because his huffing and puffing would slow down their offense. With the Hornets he was quite verbal that the up and down game wore him out. And that was 2 years ago.
I didn't watch much of the Pistons Cav series but when I did, Webber was doing alright.
I'd love for him to be coming off of our bench imo.
you're on crack. so now pj brown is going to guard duncan?![]()
I'd be fine with PJ. He isn't quite as good as Kurt, but he's close enough.
and you are clueless
PJ Brown is a good post defender and he is bigger than Kurt Thomas and has always guarded Duncan well enough. He will be a perfect replacement for Thomas.
A 38 year old PJ Brown is going to be the Tim Duncan stopper? Don't quit your day job. PJ couldn't hang in the post-season last year and suddenly he's going to turn into a defensive stopper when he's huffing and puffing up and down the court in Phoenix?

Yeah, people can call Webber a soft choker, but who would you rather have playing 20 minutes a night? Him, Keith Van Horn or Austin Croshere? If the Mavs get him cheaply for that role, it's an upgrade.
So then we get Webber.....
....and why exactly did we draft Fazekas?
All these moves by teams that had the two best records in the league show how desperate they are to field a team that can get past the Spurs. Mavs know they were lucky in game 7 vs us. Manu's foul and then the non-call on Duncan's last shot. They would have been better off losing to us then embarrasing themselves in the finals. Suns window of opportunity closes a little each year as Nash ages. Luv the guy but he plays above the speed limit all the time and has to play too many minutes at his age. This year he had to ave 40+ vs the Spurs. If I were Kerr I would have targeted a point guard that would allow Nash to ave about 32 to 36 minutes during the season and save him for the playoffs. I also believe that the Spurs system of managing each players minutes has a great deal to do with why we don't have a lot of debilitating injuries. I can't imagine Pop playing Parker 46 & a half minutes like Karl did with Iverson vs us. Yo have to have sub that can hold the fort-- we still have that and the Suns and Mavs still don't.
Because Webber will show the youngster the ins and outs of being an unathletic, soft perimeter forward who can't get stops on defense, can't score close on offense and is basically relagated to shooting semi-open jumpers from 20-feet, passing, and lumbering up and down the floor so your faster teammates can use you as an unintentional moving screen.
Webber is now.
Fazekas, the future...
Not that Phoenix isn't in the same boat if they sign Brown.
Couldn't agree more. Not only that, but if the suns sign Brown, that gives them another big body that can spell Amare, absorbing fouls and minutes away from him. Without him they have no one else of note, unless you include that powerhouse Marks (according to Kerr), or Diaw in the interior.
They're screwed either way. Do they pursue a PG to spell Nash or do they go after Brown? Nash averaged 35.3 minutes in the regular season and 37.5 in the playsoffs. He'll be 34 by the time the 2008 playoffs start. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. He will wear out or worse get injured.
I like PJ, but bottom line: if Kurt Thomas wasn't making $8 million, he'd still be in Phoenix and the Suns would be a bigger threat.
Keep telling yourself that. If Jason Terry keeps his hands off Michael Finley's junk, that series probably ends in six games. And if you want to talk about non-calls, how many over-and-back violations did Timmy commit that went "unnoticed" by the refs while the Spurs were clawing their way back from a 20-point deficit in Game Seven? The Mavs are a bad matchup for the Spurs, just like the Warriors were a bad matchup for the Mavs. Rock-Paper-Scissors.Mavs know they were lucky in game 7 vs us. Manu's foul and then the non-call on Duncan's last shot.
Yes, it's better to go out in the second round than for a young team to ac ulate Finals experience. I suppose it would've been better for Cleveland to lose to Detroit than to gain experience in the Finals. The Bulls should never have battled the Pistons year after year, ac ulating experience until they finally passed them. , are you for real? They would have been better off losing to us then embarrasing themselves in the finals.
