Saltlick isn't a chain and peeps are lined up to get in.
I'm sure 'sack and I will eat there when they open....we'll give a fair review.
I'm always open to trying new places.

You can order online now!
But seriously, Coopers is the $$$. Llano is my hometown, so I have reason to go there from time to time. I've been eating bbq from Coopers for as long as I can remember.
Have you ever tried Smokey Mo's out on Bulverde & Evans?
"Chains"?!?!?
Blasphemer.
Take the ride to Luling to City Market or over to Lockhart to Kreuz Market.
You will not be disappointed.

while my body suggests otherwise Im gonna hedge on ordering food online.
Never heard of smokey mo's, if its good, ill give it a fair shot when i get back in town.
Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon....just might have to do this.
Mo's is fairly new...I'd say it opened in the last 3 or 4 months. Not too shabby.
You're in....Dallas, is that right?
And on your way back to SA you can stop at Buccee's off I-10 and 183 and get a mess of beef jerky and an Icee.

No currently So Cal, I'll be back in SA in november.
If Mo's is in SA I will give it a shot.

I saw you and someone else talking about Dallas and got confused.
You did live here in SA though, didn't you? I think I've met you at a GTG at Kori and LJs several years ago.

Still do
Im just out here on business.
Business takes me away from SA from the end of may through the beginning of November.
OK...You can tell I'm totally out of the loop!
You need to travel more.
I'd vote heaven being the beach cottages in the virgin islands...
I am from el paso and can't disagree more. It is mediocre at best. Food is such a subjective thing though so decide for yourselves. It is at the bottom of my BBQ franchise list.

I say the same thing to Kori alot when i ask questions about people on the forum![]()
Lucille's is the best, the guys at my work ate there so much we practically paid their rent. They don't deliver but they would deliver for us because we ordered so much.
As for Famous Dave's, we ordered it in for catering a couple weeks ago and it was good. Not out-of-this-world fabulous, but it was good.
My hometown.![]()
But the best BBQ I ever had was a little shack in Lawton Oklahoma. It was named John & Cooks BBQ but was always affectionately called "n-gg-r Johns". I'm am getting hungry thinking about it.
go to the city market in luling instead! coopers is good, but i'll take the city market anyday.
edit: 1369 beat me to it.
my mother's family is from Lawton.
I have had the misfortune to go to 2 Famous Dave's. I see that TPark is in BBQ heaven, but personally I thought they suck.
Any BBQ joint that doesn't serve fried okra gets an automatic mark against them. But at the very least their meat should actually taste like it was somewhat smoked.
Of the 2 I have been to only one remains (Hermitage, TN outside of Nashville). But I've come to learn that those Tennessee folk will eat anything as long as you give them a fork.

wtf
Ahh Famous Daves, we used to eat there when we lived in Richmond,VA. Back there where you couldn't find any bbq I thought that place was heaven. I think most of you will find it decent nothing to write home about but it's not bad, and way better than ies. One more thing they serve pretty good drinks too!
tell me more about this luling joint...i'm overdue for a road trip. one of the best bbq sammiches i've ever had was in ft. davis...i don't remember the name of the place...but there's not much there to begin with.
