The league keeps making more and more money, but it's at "it's lowest right now."

I like Sheed as much as the next fan, but sometimes I wish he'd just STFU. Still, Stern's response to Sheed's outburst doesn't exactly inspire confidence either, particularly when you take into account the fact that there is still no transparency with regards to ref policy and Stern's comparative leniency when it comes to his precious refs.

could you imagine how bad the officiating would be if he had to dismiss even half of the current refs?

With the way they played against the Cavs last season, you'd think the Pistons were part of the fix.

I like watching Sheed play and I thought they were gonna be too much for the Cavs, but they didn't deserve it. The new season it almost here; let it go.

Has Rasheed ever let anything go?
I can still picture him walking in the tunnel before game 1 in '05 with that stupid belt around his shoulder.

Rasheed's also not the first player to claim the NBA was fixed after losing. I don't recall hearing anything about it when his team beat the NBA darling Lakers in the finals.

Why would stern want to help the Pistons beat the Lakers filled with a team of hall of famers? I remember last year when they were playing NBA finals games on ESPN they pretty much did every series besides the 04 Finals. That tells me Stern wants people to forget.

And again the way Stern fines people for saying stuff like this makes me believe even more that its fixed. And besides its easy to fix the game. Just keep calling questionable calls.

And again I think the players in the NBA would know a whole lot more about whats going on in the NBA then we do. So saying Rasheed is wrong is stupid and the way Stern acts and how he goes about his business, it doesn't make him look any better.

Sheed says what he feels. He says stupid all the time. And, even if the NBA wanted the Cavs to be in the Finals, the Pistons still should have won. The NBA wanted the Suns in the Finals too, but the Spurs made sure they didn't get there.

But, Sheed is entertaining if anything.

When LBJ ripped the Pistons apart for 48, he only made 10 points from the FT line. The other 38 were from FGs! I don't think there's a lot the refs could have done to make those shots fall. That had more to do with the non-existant D.

Not that I agree with Rasheed's comments, but you do know there are ways to influence games other than awarding free throws. Getting a non-shooting foul before the bonus doesn't result in free throws. Goal-tending or non-goal tending calls, out-of-bounds calls, travelling calls, moving picks, offensive fouls or charges, non-calls on shots ... none of those result in free throws but could very well influence a game.

Again, not that I agree with Rasheed because I don't, but looking at a player's free throws isn't the most accurate evidence of "foul" (pun intended) play by the officials and the NBA.

So you agree with 'sheed that the NBA is fixed, but only when someone other than Detroit wins?

Almost all the questionable calls in the Pistons/Cavs series were in Detroit's favor. Go back and watch the games.

How did the NBA get Dirk to miss those free throws or for Josh Howard to burn their last timeout?

no they are just idiots, but if stern was to fix any playoff finals it would be against the mavs...do you really think he would want to give the trophy to mark cuban.Maybe sheed is on to something he tried to tell us there was something up with tim donaghy but nobody listened to him and he was right

Not true at all. The calls were not really in favor of either team. Just like with any game, any playoff series, there were plenty of questionable calls for both teams. You just remember one or two of the "late" game calls that went against Cleveland. There were plenty of poor calls against Detroit as well. And, as I just stated, bad calls are more than just phantom fouls or missed fouls.

Since when do you live in California? Last I heard, you live in El Paso or some place like that. I remember because Island_Dude was trying to get you to come to Houston to see the Mavs and Rockets play.

i like sheed and the pistons but they sucked ass last year and the refs had nothing to do with it. if the NBA is fixed entertainment then how do our boring old spurs win 3 in 5? (include the pistons 04 ring and thats 4 of the last 5 champs won by "boring" low ratings teams). bottom line detroit was horrible across the board, and sheed was a big part of that, from the weak post play, to the poor leadership/sportsmanship (in game tantrums and media diatribes), to even the tactical end since sheed was part of the flip mutiny (and for all the flak flip gets, the players managed to do a WORSE job). really this is just a horrible argument and exposes sheed as a crybaby loser.

Yeah the NBA is fixed. Sheed is right the NBA would rather see the Spurs and the Cavs as opposed to Suns/Cavs. He needs to admit the Pistons blew it the past 2 playoff seasons and stop spouting wild theories. You are talking about someone who got ejected in the deciding Game 6. Funny how players talk about conspiracy when they lose.

Rasheed is a hothead, a Rebel. I would not be surprised if he were listening to “Fight the Power” over and over in his headset but he speaks his mind. I respect that! We see those questionable and blatant bad calls from afar and wonder WTF? Wallace see’s them up close and personal and says, FIX! Somewhere between WTF & FIX is the answer.

We all knew that the League wanted James in the Finals. That’s a no brainier! What we didn’t know is what lengths the league would take to see to the Cavs being in the finals. To dismiss Wallace’s thoughts as asinine, when the integrity and the fairness of the league has been questioned all summer long, Priceless!

This is what we have degenerated to. Seems to me that every fanbase has that group of people who think their team never actually loses instead it was "stolen" from them. It was the refs or the league or global warming or terrorism or Britney. It's not every fan but there seems to be more and more whiny, y types. Sadly, its some of the players too. They have had sunshine blown up their asses since 5 years old being told how awesome they are so they never learn to deal with defeat. Now I do believe that the NBA would prefer a matchup that would generate ratings (Stern's Lakers vs. Lakers remark comes to mind) but this whole thing about the NBA having hidden agendas is just stupid, IMO. Teams win championships because they are good. You don't win three in a row, in LA's case or 3 in 5 years, in SA's case, without being talented. No one despises losing as much as I do but it happens, you don't whine, or blame someone else. You work harder and come back the next time and try again.

Totally off topic...Lakeshow...I am going to be visiting what you would consider hallowed ground. My nephew goes to Everett H.S. here in Lansing and when BBall season starts, we are going to take in a game. I assume you know who Everett High's most famous player is?

Stern wasn't the one harrassing Billups into half his normal assists and twice his normal TOs in that series. And he DAMN sure wasn't the one rolling out the red carpet down the lane for LeBron.

C'mon, Sheed...didja ever think maybe the league is "fixed" against the guys who are in the refs faces every minute they're on the floor, ing about every single call, good or bad?

he is the biggest cry baby in sports. But he won't have to worry about it this year because the Cavs will suck.
Being an obnoxious loudmouth who talks too much and being a crybaby are two significantly different things. Rasheed is the former. Examples of the latter include Andrei Kirilenko, Shawn Marion, Barry Bonds, and the majority of sports fans of losing teams that were supposed to be good.

Rasheed has been called a crybaby before for saying that officials are crooked. Turns out he was right in some of those instances. The guy he had a confrontation with outside of the Rose Garden in Portland ... Tom Donaghy.

He speaks his mind and when he feels something isn't right, he says something. Instantly, people want to call him a crybaby because he's a loud and obnoxious asshole to them. He's more akin to a guy like Eric Byrnes or even Shaq as in he just says what he feels. Byrnes and Shaq are rarely called crybabies.

People often mis-define the word "crybaby."

Is Rasheed one of the more obnoxiously outspoken personalities in sports? Sure. Is he the biggest crybaby in sports? Hardly.

so you don't classify throwing tantrums like an 8 year old after calls against you a cry baby? Barry Bonds has never thrown tantrums, and Eric Bynes has never taken his jersey off and thrown it because he was acting like a child. I define the word crybaby as someone that acts like a child when they don't get ther way, Rasheed is the poster boy for that.

It's after EVERY call though, he is the only person that thinks that the officials should never call a foul on him. He always gives the look of shock when he gets called, and never drops it. He is a crybaby.
