I love Rahseed Wallace.![]()
It may have only been the end of the exhibition season, but Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was in mid-season form.
"I still don't think they (Cavaliers) beat us, we beat ourselves," Wallace said. "And I think we also fell victim to that personal NBA thing where they are trying to make it a world game and get (television) ratings. They wanted to put their darling in there (the NBA Finals) and they did, and look what ended up happening.
"This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment," Wallace said. "It's starting to get like the WWF. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake."

I agree! If not for some lucky shots from LeBron in Game 5 and fake fluke shots from some guy named Daniel Gibson in 6, we'd have had a REAL NBA Finals with a REAL team, the Pistons. No junior-varsity teams like Cleveland.
Sheed....you got beat.
Shut up and ball.
Yeah, the NBA does that all the time. I remember in 2005, when the media friendly Spurs were selected to advance past the totally untelegenic Phoenix Suns in the West, while the superstars for the Pistons were hand-picked to advance to the Finals in favor of two unmarketable stiffs like Shaq and Dwyane Wade. I also remember how those same Pistons were handed the NBA championship the year before over those non-jersey selling, completely irrelevant players Shaq and Kobe, who played in that non-en y of a media market, Los Angeles, California.
I like Sheed a lot, but that conspiracy talk is ing stupid as . Figures that DynastyDynastyDynasty would agree with him.
That's why the Spurs make it every other year hahahaha Gotta tap into those overwhelming Spur's ratings.
The officials were trying awfully hard to get the Pistons to win some of those games. Too bad the Pistons thought they didn't have to play defense.
Comments aside, i think Stern's response was funny. He didn't say the comments weren't or couldn't be true. All he said was that the game makes Sheed (and him) alot of money so STFU.
So basically integrity takes a backseet. You make money don't talk.
So they rig it till the Finals?
I bet if Sheed was presented the idea to be a Spur, he would join. I dont think he'd be a good compliment with Duncan though.
aaaaahhhh its been quit a while since i read the egocentric dumbass posts comming from the pistons and their fanbase...
in 2004...the HATED the lakers cuz they used the "we beat ourselves" excuse
But they used it in 2005 when the spurs defeated them,in 2006 when miami eliminated them, and now in 2007 when cleveland eliminated them....
Hey sheed why dont you try saiying this for a change...
"THE SPURS/HEAT/CAVS WERE THE BETTER TEAMS AND WE SIMPLY COULD NOT STOP DUNCAN,WADE,OR LEBRON.
Clearly the NBA did not want the Mavs to beat the Heat.....and thus the Mavs did not. Have no fear however.....AmareLOOMS.
How did the NBA get Dirk to miss those free throws or for Josh Howard to burn their last timeout?
I don't doubt it. I think Sheed would know more about whats going on in the NBA then we all do. And he is not the first player to claim the NBA is fixed. And yes there are ways to fix the game.
I agree with him as far as the game being entertainment.
But I still think it's basketball and I don't think it's fixed.
Ratings matter, making money matters.
The NBA is a business.
But we all know how the ratings are when the Spurs are in the Finals. Even against the money making machine of LeBron.
If the game was fixed the Spurs wouldn't have four les.
Rasheed's also not the first player to claim the NBA was fixed after losing. I don't recall hearing anything about it when his team beat the NBA darling Lakers in the finals.
When the Pistons won vs Lakers, was it fixed?
Stern paid someboy to fall on Malone's knee, taking Malone out of the Finals?
My thoughts exactly. Sheed needs to take off that Championship ring and sell it for what he can. It's obviously a ring from a "fake" Championship.
lakers fans thought the league was fixed when they lost in 04 because they thought stern had it out for kobe.
Please give me a break about Stern not wanting the spurs to be in the finals because of ratings, blah, blah, blah,... I call Bull ! The Spurs are the "POSTER TEAM" for stern's "globalization" of the NBA! What other team in the league would promote that better than the S.A Spurs? I read a little while ago that the Spurs were No.1 in gear sales for the NBA. WTF?? I don't see any of their gear in Calif. I mean, I do not remember seeing anyone with a SA Jersey, Cap, Photos or even a damn coffee cup. When the Cowboys were no.1 in gear sales, you could tell they were because in LA, cowboy gear was a big seller, same with the Bulls, Lebron, Shaq, Wade, etc. So how in the world are they #1 in gear sales? They're #1 because in Argentina, France, etc.. every other household probably has some form of Spurs gears.
Don't believe the hype, Stern Loves the Spurs!
^^^
yeah and that too.
I'm in Southern California and I do all of the above.
Wear Spurs T Shirts, Duncan Jerseys, I wear the Championship caps, and I drink my coffee out of a Spurs mug every morning.
Just so you know there are some of us here.![]()
I agree with your take on the Spurs being Stern's globalization ideal.
No other team does it as well, and the Spurs win.
But the TV ratings do fall here when the Spurs are in the Finals. Even with LeBron.
Stern has to balance it all. The globalization that he's been pushing for years, the money the league needs to generate. The ratings that sell the ad time to the sponsers.
It all has to play a part.
But I don't think it's fixed. I don't think Stern picks who gets to the Finals.
And I don't think Stern hates the Spurs.
I thought about you when I said that about the gear. Lets you know I haven't seen you in the streets. lol
It's not working too well for Stern right now and I think he's taking a bigger hit than expected. The NBA is at it's lowest right now. He may shift gears this season.
You'll know me if you see me.
I don't have to "dress up" for work, I work from home.
It's rare I don't have a Spurs T on.![]()
That's what I'm afraid of.
NBA popularity worldwide is at an all time high.
