in stretch's world, the NFL is a league where hard work, determination, and skill are the reasons why a team wins. Unless they're the Patriots. Then it's just because they get every lucky call and play ever.
you obviously haven't been watching the game for a long time. What you call lucky fumble or bizarre penalties (they were all legit) is what makes this game great and even all sports. There are no champions without good bounces or few breaks.
That's why we watch sports. Anything can happen. If whoever was supposed to win was winning, why would we even care??
what happened in san diego last year is what happens in all sports, to all champions(even though we didn't win).

stretch actually believes that New England won the '01-'02 Super Bowl because the government & NFL ruling authorities conspired for the Patriots to win immediately after 9/11. it's true, ask him.
Oh, you mean the same last year that had the Chargers at 14-2? Or the Ravens at 13-3? Or the Saints at 13-3?
WTF does last year have to do with how well the Pats are performing this year?
That's actually a good point. He is constantly measuring individual players by wins and losses but a team that is winning is just fluke luck.
Seems backwards to me.
If the Pats go undefeated it will be amazing.
Even if you don't like them, that's a feat worthy of respect.
What the Patriots are doing has the country buzzing and people will follow weekly the events that transpire. So I guess everyone is a winner in that regard.
But my gut says this NFL story will have a suprise ending.
And the moral will be 'karma.'
The Patriots are a great team. If they go undefeated, it'll be a great accomplishment. If it serves no other purpose other than to shut up those assholes from that overrated '72 Dolphins team, I'm all for it.
That said, I'm not a believer that their statistical records will mean much of anything from a historical perspective. Since nobody, maybe in the history of sports, has ever actually worked this hard to run the score up on teams and pad their stats, it's always going to hang over these records. Bad sportsmanship aside, throwing on fourth down with a 40 point lead is as artificial as Ricky Davis calling timeout to try for a triple double, and we all know it.
While this is a historic run, the lack of historical perspective and hubris displayed by this team is just staggering. It's ironic that in response to getting busted for cheating, that they then abandon any sense of sportsmanship or class, as though a couple dozen fourth quarter touchdowns are going to change the perception of a team that won three super bowls by a combined nine points. The only thing it really assures is the loss of any likeability factor they might have had.
Fortunately for me, as a Spurs fan, I never have to hear anyone compare the Spurs to the Patriots again, since Pop berated and benched the starting center for hitting a three pointer in garbage time of a playoff blowout.
At some point that dislike by the rest of the league could turn into something ugly. Karma's a funny thing, and the clock is always ticking on how long you can dodge it. Should something unfortunate or even intentional happen to suddenly derail this train, there will be those that won't be surprised to see it happen.
I'd take this a little more seriously if they weren't spanking teams by 20+ points the majority of the time.
Just ask the Chargers. I bet they felt that asterisk being branded into their asses after that week 2 beating they took at the hands of the Pats.
I agree. You can hang an asterisk on their stats, but there's no doubting the legitimacy of their wins. I really think they are beatable, and it would be satisfying to see them go undefeated and then lose in the playoffs. See 2006-2007 Dallas Mavericks.
15-1 the Pats night go after being on a rampage once the Ravens beat them next Monday. We are a better team than our record shows. Our coach is just a moron who didn't know when to pull the plug on a once great, but now declining QB in McNair. I'm telling you there in NO WAY that NE puts up those kind of point against our defense. Actually I think we win that game. And to take a page out of Dirks book for wild predictions...![]()

Giving up 30 to the Browns (in regulation) just means the Ravens are the second worst defense in the division, right?![]()
That's my problem with this season, trying to figure out who I dislike more, the Pats, or those rat bas s from the 72 dolphins.
Man the Browns are good this year. Not saying that they are better than NE, but they are a good football team. You would have been better off saying Cincinatti or something. I don't know though, even our defense looked lost today. It might be a long night on Monday.![]()
Goddamn. They scored already. Well, game's over. I thought the Eagles had a shot too.
We were out of form today, uh forget it....![]()
yeah that was a pretty good pop.
