Why show Dallas all our cards in the pre-season?
No need to take a risk at this stage. Give him a break!
Why show Dallas all our cards in the pre-season?
In early 2003-04, the Spurs played the Mavs (who still had Nash and a younger Fin alongside Dirk; they also had Antoine Walker and Antawn Jamison to boot) in San Antonio without Parker and Duncan. They lost that game by 3, despite shooting about 33% from the floor. They got great efforts from Malik Rose (20 pts, 22 rebounds) and Manu (17 points, 7 assists), and held the Mavs' Big 3 under control until the very end of the game.
It can be done.

Considering that was the worst Mavs team in the past 4-5 seasons, featuring such studs as 'Toine and 'Tawn..... I don't think that's really relevant.
Dallas always seems to play with that "extra" motivation against the Spurs.
While it won't mean much, Spurs WILL lose this one too.
Damn shame, too. I was anticipating another slugfest.
Go weep about lebron somewhere else
I didn't say it was relevant to determining who would win tonight.
I suggested that the 03-04 game shows that it's possible for the Spurs to win games against good teams at home, even without 2 of their superstars. That's true without regard to the fact that the game was played against the Mavericks. That game could have been against LA or New Jersey or Detroit or Sacramento and the point would have been the same.
I thought the game in '04 against the Lakers "Big 4" was more impressive. The Spurs still lost by 3 but I remember Ginobili giving the Lakers all they could handle without Parker and Duncan in the lineup. I know he was close to a triple-double while scoring 30+.
In LAL game he scored 33 with 12 boards and 8 assist if i am not mistaken. I have that game on my pc, and don't get tired of watching it.
