It's a tossup between this one or the 03 team IMO.

The reason we are off to a fast start though has more to do with the fact that for the first time probably in the Duncan era, we returned the same supporting cast from the previous season.

Pop isn't having to spend the first 1/3rd of the season familiarizing half the team with the system.

You know...that's the reason we haven't repeated. It's kind of amazing that the Spurs have basically relearned how to win a le 4 times...

That's probably unique in NBA history.
But it's still to early to tell.

I think Manu has eclipsed 2005 level, but since this is the regular season it's very hard to tell for sure. He's already put up 3 or 4 30+ point games and is doing so with 30 minutes or less on most nights. That's about the most remarkable thing I can think of at the moment.

As a wise man once said, "This team is so mean it will rip the asshole out of an elephant."

If our defense improves and Tim steps it up after the All-star break, then yes. This could be one of the best teams of all time.
you think this team can beat the 2001-2002/2003 ShaQ/Kobe Lakers? hard to tell, IMO.

Well, compare Rookie Tony and Rookie Manu to Finals MVP Tony and All-Star Manu... and then ask yourself that question again. So far, this is the best team the Spurs have ever put on the court through the first 18 games. Where we end up has yet to be written, but I think it ends with the elusive repeat... and it ends rather convincingly.
