he is also the most fined player in NFL history for illegal hits. there is your "statistical" proof that he is the dirtiest player in the league.
Harrison is too much of a dirty jerk to simply wrap up instead of going for QB's knees, especially in pre-season. Not to mention he has to use roids or whatever to assist his tacking abilities.
he is also the most fined player in NFL history for illegal hits. there is your "statistical" proof that he is the dirtiest player in the league.
Roy has tackled like that for years, so I understand if it happens every now and then in the heat of the game. That being said he is still a dumbass for not learning and deserves a suspension. His fat ass can stand to lose some weight also. Maybe that will help him in coverage... BUT there is no argument that he is a dirty player. Even Parcells got his back on that subject. He said Roy doesn't have a malicious bone in his body. Parcells usually stays away from being biased, but he obviously felt stong enough about Roy being labled dirty that he actually came to his defense on T.V. last night. Mono, you need to get your boy Roy's back also.
Harrison on the other hand is a dirty mother er who roids. We all know his history. Its not even close. No comparison.
i understand why the horse collar is illegal, but are you just not supposed to tackle someone if that's the only way? i had no idea you couldn't grab the jersey like that this year.
you can grab the jersey like that, but not the shoulder pads. Makes sense right?
I believe pulling them down by the inside of their collar is what is illegal. Hence the name, "horse collar tackle."
i was pretty sure roy grabbed all jersey - he didn't have his hand inside the back of the shoulder pad, and aikman or buck stated that the rule was changed this year to include the jersey.
He could have tackled Green up higher, he chose to dive for the knee.
The 'solid proof' that horse collar tackles break legs is that it has happened. There is equal 'solid proof' that diving into the back of a knee tears ACLs (at a much higher rate).
I'm not saying that Roy isn't borderline dirty - but it's certainly coming off as hypocritical of you to attack Roy and then defend Harrison.
I'm not defending Harrison, I'm saying that when a player goes balls-out like he does, sometimes things like that happen. Every time someone blows an ACL it's the result of a dirty play?
happens, people get hurt all the time. alot of people go low with their tackles. it happens all the time. and even if harrison hit green low, there's no way you could look at his tackle and say that he had every intention of blowing out his knee. i'm not saying harrison isn't dirty but citing one example of an unfortunate injury that happened from a low tackle doesn't make him dirtier than Roy Williams.
Roy Williams willingly uses a technique that has been proven to break people's legs.
one person's leg. T.O.Roy Williams willingly uses a technique that has been proven to break people's legs.
Unless I missed someone.
he hurt jamal lewis with it too.
no. every time somebody blows out an ACL because the tackler dove unnecessarily at the back of their knee it is the result of a dirty play.
i posted the example because you asked, "How many legs has he broken by purposely using a dirty tackling technique?"
did harrison break a league rule?
besides the roids?
i said he hurt Lewis, not that he broke his leg. and he put Calico out for the entire year.

liar indeed.Roy Williams and the Horse-collar: Why the rule was made
In a preseason game on Aug. 30, 2004, Tennessee wide receiver Tyrone Calico was running toward the sidelines after a five-yard run when he suffered torn cartilage to his left knee and a sprained anterior cruciate in his right knee when Williams brought him down with the then legal tackle.
On Nov. 21, 2004, Williams took out Baltimore running backs Jamal Lewis and Musa Smith with the horse-collar tackles. Lewis suffered a sprained ankle and Smith a compound fracture of the right tibia. It ended Smith's season.
Terrell Owens, then with Philadelphia, was tackled from behind by Williams in the third quarter of a game on Dec. 19, 2004, and suffered a fractured right fibula. Owens would miss the final two weeks of the regular season only to return for Super Bowl XXXIX.
At the NFL spring meetings on May 24, 2005, league owners voted, 27-5 to outlaw the horse-collar. It was labeled the "Roy Williams Rule."
Here's the thing (which is why I'm saying you're being hypocritical):
Harrison's hit was not illegal on Green at that time - but it is now.
When Williams' horse collar tackle broke a leg - it was not illegal at that time either - but it is now.
Diving unnecessarily into the back of a knee or horse-collaring a player to the ground from behind: it's splitting hairs as to which is worse. But neither is going to win the perpetrator the sportsman of the year award.
You did lie.
He never broke Calico's legs. You have been accusing him of leg breaking and when I asked who elses legs he broke, you cited Calico as one of those players.
i asked because i didn't know if Harrison was suspended or not for the hit. you seem to know more about that hit than i do.
and even if it was legal at the time, how many more times has harrison hit a QB like that since it was made illegal? cuz Roy still regularly horse collars.
my mistake, he only put him out for the entire season. that's way better.
No its not and nowhere did I say that.
Why lie and imply that people say things they didn't just to be right when you already have a solid arguement?
be a if you want to. he didn't break his legs, instead he tore his ACL and put him out for the year. but you're right, the horse collar didn't break Calico's legs so big victory for you. go celebrate. Roy only broke 2 people's legs.
nice post editing btw.
So, if I don't agree with you...i'm a and I automatically embrace a shady tactic.
I don't celebrate at all in fact I don't like the whole horse collar thing and have criticized Williams in this thread about it. The thing that pisses me off the most is that now he may have hurt his team by getting suspended.
