Yet Tomlinson said yesterday the injury was originally diagnosed as a sprained medial collateral ligament, and that the tenderness returned with “the first lick” the Patriots applied.
“Injuries are injuries,” he said. “Sometimes your body tells you it ain't going to happen. You've got to listen to your body sometimes. Obviously, I want to play, but if I did try to play, I would have been hurting the team because I didn't have any explosiveness and I wouldn't have been myself.”
Looks like they could have been lying about his injury all along.
I don't think that would have made a difference. Rivers played pretty well and was accurate for most of the day. I think the biggest factor was not having Gates and Tomlinson in the redzone. Put those two in healthy and the Chargers score at least twice in their four redzone trips.

That's why I believe that this is spin control from the LT camp. He was fine, he took a few hits and pussed out, and now they're trying to accuse the team of misdiagnosing him and being shady for leaving him off the report in an attempt to keep the self-proclaimed "classiest man in the NFL" as classy as ever.

and of all people to whine about people using minor/fake injury excuses... a few years back, Tom Brady was just fine in a playoff game against Jacksonville, and suddenly he loses to the Broncos in the playoffs, and people like you start using some BS injury as an excuse for his poor performance, their 10-6 record, etc... enough with the bull .

No, but if it's an "injury" that keeps you out of the biggest game of your career after a week of saying "I will play, i'm almost 100%" then you better have had some serious happen to you. I see no evidence that the inury was so serious that there was no way he couldn't tough it out the way many, many, many other true NFL greats have in the past.

By the way, it took near as much guts for a guy as prideful as LT to not play in the game. I think it's a safe bet to say that the dude isn't a pussy since he is an NFL runningback. I'm sure he wanted to play, but it would of hurt the team more then it would have benefitted it, and he recognized that.
