That guy played tough all game long. I have nothing but respect for the dude now.
Meanwhile, the guy on his team who's been tin on Rivers all season long was sitting on the bench like a little ing coward. You can say whatever about him reinjuring himself, he's the one that talked about the Pats the last 2 meetings, he's the one who wouldn't even sit next to his own QB, he's the one throwing hissy fits, he's the one who said he was almost 100%, and he was the one who wouldn't tough it out in the most important game of his career, instead sitting with his helmet on. LT is a cowardly , end of story.
Hats off to Philip Rivers though, that guy gave a gutsy performance and proved just what a tough mother er he is.

Maybe if the Chargers had Eli the game could've gone a different way.
nobody said he played great. just that he was tough, and played with a lot of heart. i'll take that any day in my QB.
meanwhile, the "leader" of the team was sitting like a .
The 1st **INT** clearly being a pussout by Chris Chambers, as Phil Simms noted.
The first field goal the Chargers settled for now Chambers admits: "Chargers wide receiver Chris Chambers blamed himself for running the wrong end-zone pass route on the play immediately preceding the first of Nate Kaeding's four field goals." (Beyond that Chambers has been a great reciever, no doubt).
Also the 3rd and a yard and a half with Chargers only behind 14-9, with Norvall calling for a sideways run instead of two punches up the middle.
Yeah that's Rivers fault.
Mo-ron.
Guess Mono knows what it feels like to run on an injured mcl..
Playing QB and having an injured knee is much different than making a cut as a running back with an injured knee.
Whatever though, you've never had respect for Tomlinson so this thread doesn't surprise me.
LT didn't seem too terribly hurt as he casually walked off the field after a 1 yard "holy i gotta get outta bounds!" catch. The dude ed out and you know he did, but I understand that you don't want to admit it.
And I doubt playing QB with a torn ACL is any less difficult than whatever LT may or may not have been feeling. Philip Rivers showed that he had the heart of a champion and would risk everything to be in the Super Bowl. Too bad his biggest critic on the team didn't feel the same way.
Knee injuries are no joke dude, especially for someone that cuts the way LT does. I don't think there is any RB in the league that would be able to play effectively with a busted up knee, and most coaches would not allow them, because a knee is not something to play with. If one thing goes wrong, that is the end of his career for sure. There is a MAJOR difference between a QB and an RB playing on a bum knee.
For a guy who's never missed a start due to injury I highly doubt he'd be sitting on the bench in the biggest game of his life if it was possible for him to play. If you believe he could have been out there but chose to sit you are a ing moron and I was wrong about you. Two reasons he sits: 1. If not 100% and he goes out and plays and can't gain yardage, what good does that do for his team when there is a 100% healthy Michael Turner waiting to back him up. 2. If he gets hit on his knee again and injures it further his career could be over. Personally, number 1 has far more to do with it than other reasons and I'm glad LT sat (although I don't think he wanted to) so that a healthy RB got a chance to help his team.
Then you've obviously never played the sport you claim to know so much about. And I doubt playing QB with a torn ACL is any less difficult than whatever LT may or may not have been feeling.
wasn't LT close to 100%. he said that all week. he wasn't even on the injury report. he wasn't that hurt. the three hits he took weren't even that bad, and he walked off the field on his own power with nary a limp.
rivers was in just as much danger for a career ending injury as LT would have been. and he gutted it out for his team. LT sat with his helmet on. end of story.
I don't have the qualifications to question the legitimacy of LT's injury (and neither does anyone here) but if his knee was bad enough not to go back in, then he shouldn't have.
Phillip Rivers did impress me with his toughness. I have never been too impressed with him but he showed me a lot yesterday.
well please regale me with your tales of playing QB with a torn ACL and then RB with a "sprained MCL" and let me know how it went for you since you know so ing much about it.
Bo Jackson's tackle against the Bengals didn't look that bad either, and he walked off on his own power with almost no limp either, but it turned out quite a bit worse than expected, and was the end of his career.
if LT's career is over because of some hit he took yesterday, i'll take back what it said.
if he needs surgery for it, i'll take back what it said.
if he's in Hawaii yukking it up at the Pro Bowl, then he was a ing coward.
Playing any sport with any kind of tendon or ligament damage is not easy or fun whatsoever. I screwed up my ankle once and tore some ligaments and damaged some tendons. It didn't really hurt that bad, and I could run around on it, and i didn't feel a whole lot, but when I tried to get out and play a game of basketball on it, it was a completely new experience. I had no explosiveness, any hard cut on the ankle was very painful, and there is a restrictiveness that you feel, that is very hard to explain.
i think the chargers take it with volek in.
i don't care about a basketball game and hurt ankles.
i want to know the specific organized football games TSA played where he was a QB with a torn ACL and a RB with a "sprained MCL" which gives him such ing insight into the LT/Rivers injury situation.
Don't be a stupid . The point is, the ankle is a highly used joint in basketball, much like the knee is a highly used joint in football, and any ligament/tendon damage is very hard to play with. And I have played football with a bruised knee bone, and even that was not very easy to do. Obviously you wouldn't know, because you haven't had to deal with such injuries.
If I were you, I'd be more concerned over the fact that you were scared less by a team that had a QB with ed up knees, and was missing the best RB in the NFL, and there was maybe a 2 or 3 play difference between them winning or losing against the Patriots, as opposed to finding new ways to talk out of your ass and unreasonably bash a player that you personally dont like.
I can't claim to have played on either a sprained MCL or a partially torn ACL. But I can claim to have played football at a high level and understand what injuries do and how they affect a player at a certain position. For you to think that playing QB or RB would be the same on an injured knee makes you look ignorant and it makes it so obvious you just want to take shots at LT.

looks like i'm not the only one questioning LT's heart.
That very possibly could have happened. While I admire and respect Rivers for what he did, I personally don't think it was a very smart choice either. Sometimes you just gotta know when to throw in the towel.
Great article Mono, they don't even mention that he was hit again squarely on his knee.
