When you hear about amounts being pledged by World Organizations I can't help but be reminded of the child (many world relief organizations) that decides to make a purchase or to donate money to a cause only to turn to their mom or dad (America) and ask for the money.

Through our foreign aid package, our immediate pledge and forthcoming 350 million (surely to rise to an amount that will eclipse every other giving en y on the face of the planet), our deployment of milions of dollars worth of military assets, our private fund raising (already in the 150 to 200 million dollar range with some going to foreign or international bodies such as UNICEF and IRC); I'm certain, the U.S. has and will continue to be the most benevolent and giving nation on the face of the planet...we're just more diversified in our charity and less prone to counting the pennies along the way.

In fact, had the UN, the EUnuchs, and the Liberal Left not started haranguing the President on December 27th about how little the U.S. was doing, we wouldn't be having this conversation and the President, Secretary Powell, and other good solid Americans, such as Sandra Bullock, would not have to be divulging how generous we really are...we would have just quietly done what we always do in a disaster, provide relief, comfort, and aid to those in need.
I'm tired of always having to refute this with facts, and being called a traitor, unpatriotic, or unamerican. it.

Use of the lable of "most benevolent and giving nation" is something I'd be wary of EVER using, but what ever. I'm tired of arguing.

Yeah, I bet it does get tiresome...particularly when you CAN'T refute it! Besides, I don't recall asking you to refute it...

No one gives more, or does more, for the poor and or the underpriveledged than the United States of America.

I agree. And because we have so much debt to pay off and so many problems here, I feel that we pledged too much for tsunami relief.

When you're broke, you don't go out and get a bunch of credit cards.

I would be happy if the U.S. doesn't give a penny to any other nation until our financial house is in order.

That's good to see that she gave up so much money, i never thought i'd see a celebrity donate so much, that's great that she is helping.

I think every celebrity could donate a million.

If a celeb donates a million bucks, at least they aren't going to spend that 1 million bucks on pointless, useless crap that they will use once.

Why does politics have to creep into this topic?

I heard today how "14 Americans" have been verified as dying during this tragic event. Does it really matter what nationality a person is when the die?

Some don't want the US to send any money to any other countries but don't have a problem spending billions in Iraq.

    Enough...I'll shut up now.

And is the amount someone gives the measure of their caring?

A poor man with $5 buck in his pocket gives $1.

A rich man with millions in his pocket give $1 million.

Who will get to heaven faster?

You wont find one person, who supports the war in Iraq, that doesnt support the money given to Asia.

Thats some greqat stuff there, good to see people from all walks of life giving to those in need.

Apparently Michael lost his bodyguard in the tsunami hence his generous donation, but that is just a stagering amount.

Well, Australia has really bonded together with this tragedy. Lots of giving from everybody, and lots people sent over to help.

As long as heaps of people gives, it matters who gives the most, as long as they get the help they need. It isn't a ing compe ion for sake.
