Parker hasent been hurt as long as we have been playing like this
Um, as long as we've been playing like what?

The rot started during the injuries in late Dec, and continued up to pretty much the Seattle game. Then we won a toughie at Phoenix, Stoudamire joined the fray, and the team has looked progressively better since.

Today's performance displayed the rust typical of the Spurs after more than 2 days of rest, and they put it together in the fourth Q to coast to victory.

We haven't been playing any particular way for the last two months, there have been three distinctly different periods in there. I know, because I've watched every game.

yea i only missed the Houston game this year. I dont want to argue about anything but i think we all know this season after the first 20 games have been up and down. A lot of down times .... I just dont see any solid offense like we had before with tony or not

Start Bowen as long as you can. He normally keeps his man from gaining early confidence.

Udoka is a very different player. He's a stronger player (physically) than Bowen and he's a very good rebounder. I doubt Pop will ever use the "S" word when Ime is in the game. The Anti-Charmin.

I am so glad the Spurs picked him up, especially now that Brent is sitting there in a coat.

Well wich game were you talking about?

You just can't bring up a game and then say "i dont want to argue"

Were not arguing were just trying to help you understand why your wrong.

    Not wrong, but, just misguided.

I would like to see Ime start just to see would happen... and im not saying oooooo bruce sucks and all this. Thats not what im saying i just don't think we have looked that good in a long time... we have had little spurts here and there but not a good solid game like we used to have every week
Well that's what I was thinking in early Janurary. I first thought about it after a game against the Rockets.

I just wanted to start him to see what happens. I really thought at the time with the Spurs struggling offensively that Ime could start and we might get more production out of him if he's getting open looks from Tim. I wanted Michael to be the one that went to the bench though, not Bruce. Ruff, I think was the one that also suggested that it could be for Bruce since Bruce was in a funk at the time. I think that is the only reason Ruff suggested it actually.

Now if we were to do it that way I'd bring in Bruce at about the 6 minute mark of the first quarter, no later than that though. My thinking is after Ime has played his brand of tough physical defense Bruce can come in fresh as a daisy and play his suffocating defense on an already slightly tired starter. I still think it could work if Pop thinks a shakeup is needed.

This thread is premature, Bruce is still the master.

No way are you gonna bench him; Udoka is earning his minutes but he still makes a lot of mistakes in the game. And his offense isn't "miles" above Bruce's so much either. Udoka is fine on the bench.

Yup, my suggestion was sit Bruce for the first 6 minutes so that Ime could improve the O by hitting wide open 3s that Bruce was missing - at the time, mid/late-Jan, it even looked to me like players were opting not to pass it to Bruce because he was shooting that badly.

The continuation of the idea was that Bruce would still play most of his minutes against the other team's starters, it was all about avoiding those 1st Q holes we were getting ourselves in all through January. That's not happening any more, and Bruce has found his stroke (although obviously not tonight!), so I don't think it's necessary any more.

    2 fer 2 in the 4th quarter.

Big reason the lead got stretched out!!

Agreed, the shot looked off. He passed up a bunch of shots thought hat he should've shot.

    Alot did.

    Bowens doing fine though.

Ok well now i know how people react in this fourm so i probly wont post anymore some of you are very annoying. I dont see what the big deal of me saying i think Ime should get a chance to start over bowen. If Bonner had a chance over Fab this year that pop would try anything even tho that didnt make sens.

That statement in itself is fine. That's your opinion.

    However:

The only thing that was keeping pop from starting Ime was because Bowen has that streak going.
And you wonder why people are saying you're wrong?

I don't think you change at this point and of course Pop goes as we think. But Udoka does serve a long term purpose and was brought here for in that understanding. You also have to realize the Spurs system isn't reading a book and passing its test. Horry I think commented on it a few years back. Halfway done and he isn't disappointing me. He is showing he has the chance to step in during the playoffs and compete very well. Hopefully it happens for our sake and his because you won't see Bonner out there anymore. (p.o. time)

yep i know that but my point is that it seems like pop is more worried about Bruce's streak then doing something to make our line up better..... It seems a little selfish

I agree. Bowen is a warrior. If you look at his physique, he looks like Bruce Lee. He has that wiry but muscular body. He should be able to play until he's 40, basketball gods willing.

If Bowen doesn't start, Gerald Wallace goes nuts.

    Why do you laugh.

    Wallace averages 20 a game.

Bowen started out on him and helped keep him to his 0-9 shooting.

Toughen up, people around here debate with... force.

You brought up a topic that has been discussed for 4 weeks and we've pretty much been over every angle.

Seriously, hang around, it's by far the best Spurs forum on the net. Maybe you should just get a feel for the place before starting threads putting forward ideas that have already been done to death?
