Dorell has shown some flashes, but the question is can he be consistent? we'll see what happens. The Spurs have been interested in him for a while, so just wait and see...

Pretty cool youtube video on DW. Is he really 6'11" as some Heat fans are claiming?

Anyway, this guy could be an option if the FO strikes out on other FA prospects.

According to his draft report, his vertical is supposed to be one of his strengths. Its hard to tell what type of hops he has based on a video, but based on the video above it doesnt like too bad.

It's because of players like Wright that I like the idea of splitting the MLE.
If the Spurs could draft a backup PG (like Chalmers) and use the MLE to sign Wright and Azubuike I'd be pretty happy with the offseason.

He may not be able to shoot, but he is a long-three.

I like the idea of nabbing him for a cheap price

His three point shooting isn't great, but his FG% (inside the arc and beyond) has improved since the season before, FWIW.

Wright can play. He is a very good defender and shot blocker for his size. Tyrus Thomas mold...

    WRIGHT UPDATE

Forward Dorell Wright said he is pleased the Heat extended a $2.4 million qualifying offer this week, which gives Miami the right to match any offer.

Wright becomes a restricted free agent Tuesday.

''Miami is where I want to be so I can't wait to get out there next year,'' Wright said Thursday at Madison Square Garden, where he was attending the draft.

Wright is rehabilitating from season-ending knee surgery and said he is about a month away from being ready to go.

    Career FG % 46--last season 48% 3s 36% FTs 82% PPG 7.9 RPG 5.9

    Compare to Bowen: FG. 40.1% 3s 41% FTs 65% PPG 6 RPG 2.9

Pretty much a wash on other stats except his were gained playing 25 mpg to Bowen's 30mpg.

Update: Wright turned in a nice all-around game against the Lakers Sunday, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, two steals plus a block and a 3-pointer.

Analysis: Wright started his third game in a row on Sunday after being asked to come off the bench earlier in the week against the Raptors. He has averaged 15 points and just over eight rebounds a game since returning to the starting lineup.

At 23 with 4 years of experience, some of it starting, I'd give him a long damn look for the long 3.

Teams that reportedly have interest in Wright, who is coming off knee surgery to repair torn cartilage, are San Antonio, Philadelphia and Denver.

I actually like Wright and the Spurs have long targeted him ... but he's so raw that it'll be a while before he could step into the starting lineup. Another year of Finley starting? No thanks.

    P.S.

The Heat signing James Jones probably makes Wright more available.

He was starting for Miami after coming back from a knee injury. I agree that Miami wasn't great this year, but we'd probably be looking at him as a Bowen backup. He's a mobile long 3, but maybe still growing into a 3/4.

Who else have we got with that type of skill set and 4 yrs experience at 23?

With free agents able to sign contracts at midnight, it's also unclear what the future holds for restricted free agent and former Heat first-round pick Wright.

Wright signed with agent Bob Myers, who is part of the Los Angeles-based Wasserman media group that represents several NBA marquee players.

''I'm not working with Dorell at this time,'' Calvin Andrews, Wright's former agent, said Tuesday afternoon, adding that he was unsure which teams are pursuing Wright.

The Heat tendered a $2.4 million qualifying offer last month, giving the team the right to match offers to Wright from other teams. At the NBA Draft in New York on June 26, Wright said he expected interest from other teams but prefers to stay in Miami.

Teams that reportedly have interest in Wright, who is coming off knee surgery to repair torn cartilage, are San Antonio, Philadelphia and Denver.

Wright is a guy with alot of potential, and the simple fact that Denver is interested means that either he or Smith should be available.

His QO is more than that so it'll take more to steal him away.

I would've rather had James Jones. The Spurs absolutely MUST get some additional scoring into the starting lineup. I don't want to see another game with Pop trotting out Finley, as part of this roster - let alone the starting lineup.

If Wright could score and open up the floor, then......

I'd rather have Gist as our project long small forward.

We need some instant scoring at this point.

I really like Wright, he has way more upside than Gist..it would be a good off season if we could get him, everyone is so worried about our offense, but our D suffered and that is what we need to fix, Wright helps that and his offense is underrated.

I wouldn't mind the Spurs signing Wright at all, in fact I think it'd be kind of a under-the-radar move... He's long, and rebounds really well. Not saying much, but he started 34 games for the Heat last season, and about 20 games the season prior, so he's not quite as raw as some players just coming into the leauge.
