Korean hasn't really caught on in America, not like the other Asian foods. I like it, though. Used to eat it all the time in Biloxi-Gulfport, Mississippi.

    And kimchi is great.

But back to sushi ... New Orleans is not known for its Asian food, but some of the places here are still excellent. Haven't tried sea urchin -- will have to give it a try.
Korean food is huge in Cali.

My favorite kind of sushi involves eel -- I love it on top of rice, in a salad of some sort, or in sushi. I also love deep red tuna and pink salmon. The rolls are great too, provided they're not covered in mayonnaise-y sauce. The California roll is good for the beginner, but I generally opt for the eel hand roll.

I also have hot dreams about seaweed salad. The place in Metaire (Oki Nago) makes an excellent one. And miso soup. And cold noodle soup with large take mushrooms. At this point, I am migrating away from sushi towards Japanese cuisine, but it's all good!

    Anyone like kimchi?
    You, my friend, rule.

Eel ing kicks ass. Probably my favorite food in the world, along with pretty much any kind of sashimi.

    Miso soup kicks ass.

Kimchi kicks ass. (i am actually half korean too. half korean and half irish to be exact, so i get a regular dose of korean foods.)

    Do you like sashimi?

I know I rule. Thanks for expressing what everyone here at ST all want to say, but don't actually have the nerve to say.

Eel is the greatest. I have hot dreams about eating it, putting it between my teeth, letting its delicious flavor soak into my tongue ...

Miso soup rules. I don't try to make it at home because I know I will ruin it. And I love kimchi and Korean food.

Sashimi is good too -- I prefer eel, of course, and mackerel, because I like my fish to taste like ... fish

ooh mackerel is soooo good too.

its nice to know that im not the only one that likes eel as much as i do. i know a few people that like it, but most people that have it dont really like it a lot. but to be fair, the first time i had it, i didnt like it either, but im probably the most open minded person about food, and probably the least picky eater ever, so i gave it another chance, and it grew on me fast, and now its my favorite.

I loved eel the first time I had it. The flavor is amazing. I like salmon and tuna also, but eel and mackerel are my favorites. I love them in pretty much anything -- hand rolls, sushi proper, sashimi, etc.

Imperial Cafe in Corpus Christi is probably the best place for sushi there. In New Orleans, it's ... Rock 'n' Sake on Magazine St.

Also, i'm not big into wasabi, oddly enough. If it's part of the sushi roll, then that's okay. But my philosophy is, if the sushi chef wanted wasabi on his roll or sushi, he'd have put it on.

And I eat it with my hands.

I'm adept at chopsticks, mind you. But sushi, I think, is better just eaten with your hands. It's not a messy food, really.

And yes, I am a savage.
