It really isn’t the players imo, it’s the system that forces these players into roles they are not fit for.
Vassell would be a good 3 and D guy, if he’s actually coached to play D. His game is getting worse year after year and the only reason is because he is forced to do things he can’t do (creation) that he doesn’t have the time to work on the things he was good at.
Same with sochan, he is an excellent cutter, defender, offensive rebounder, and yet he’s now told to stand at the corner for open shots, Shiite he can’t make. He’s best playing centre on D, and yet he’s playing like a SF. There’s no reason for this.
keldon is best used as a spark plug on offense. There is not much hope he will ever learn to play team D, but he does barrel to the rim, he does play with a wreck less, infectious abandon, but he’s being asked to carry the offense on the second unit.
Champaigne is doing great in his limited three and D role, because it’s simple and clear what he has to work on, but for some reason he’s now stuck on the bench.
Castle was playing well starting, and he was sent to the bench to rot until sochan got hurt. His game also ain’t seeing much improvement the last few months.
Castle should work so Th champaigne as both can be decent perimeter defense, while champaigne provides a great target for castle while he drives.
Vassell should pair with sochan in the second unit where vassell can handle the ball a little, Jack up his shots and sochan can rebound those misses. Vassell can chuck to his hearts delight because sochan can get them back at a decent rate. Sochan can also cover for Vassell on D. If Vassell ever gets back to average on D; they can even play with Keldon where sochan gets the toughest perimeter player, Vassell gets the other guy and Keldon can stick with the bigger heavier guys and bang a bit.
But no, the players all have to do things they cant do, so they obviously look like .
