at least we have realistic hope everyone who sucked tonight gets better
Pop probably doesn't know what he's going to do. If I had to bet on it, I'd bet he doesn't come back to coach.
at least we have realistic hope everyone who sucked tonight gets better
One can wish
If Keldon's play in the first half was even close to his second half play, they would not have been playing from far behind.
The game was lost when Dejounte missed a layup to cut the lead to 4, after that it was a 6-0 run.
I don't see a good Spurs future with Dejounte, they need a point guard who can draw defenders to free up Vassell and Richardson (and other potential shooters). Dejounte doesn't have that 'gravity'
Pop said in one of the sideline interviews between quarters that rebounding was a major issue... but the Spurs are playing KJ, Vassell, and Richardson at the forward spots-- 40, 37, & 32 minutes respectively at 6'6", 6'5", 6'5"-- so it's not like they're being put in great positions to succeed. And it's not like the Pelicans are enormous or anything, but the 6'11" Hayes, 6'8" Ingram, 6'8" Murphy, 6'7" Herb, and 6'7" Nance always had a significant collective height advantage when they were on the floor. The Spurs were out-rebounded 53-34... that's a nearly impossible advantage to overcome.
Imagine how good this team would be if we had Herbert Jones instead of Josh Primo. I expected Murray 2 have a bad game. Being out with respitory ilness, loosing 7-8 pounds and your 2nd game back being a must-win will throw anybody off. That being said if I can get Banchero for Keldon „Packing for 4 games“ Johnson and picks, I‘d do that deal
They just insist on drafting guards...
Unfortunately this
Lonnie played well shooting 5-9 fg and 2-4 at 3 for 12 pts playing 17 minutes.
Yea Lonnie played up to you would expect from him, specially because was scoring when nobody else had it going and were scared. I thought he did well for a bench scorer. He’s still got a bad back and I think that limited his minutes.
That right there made this season bearable
Lonnie didn't earn a big bag of cash out of this game but yeah, relatively, he played his role whereas others didn't.
Still processing the Primo disaster. There are a lot of paths his career can take with him being so young but to show nothing in a playoff game, even if he is the youngest player in the league, is disappointing.
If we had Demar still on this team we be better than a play in team. Dejounte is trash pg who can’t dribble and turns the ball over too much. I would have preferred spurs traded DJ than Demar. How fittingly tonight’s game ends with DJ turning the ball over.
At least I can enjoy watching demar in the playoffs.
Wishful thinking but if the Pelicans can beat the Clippers, then it would be nice to see both LA teams miss the playoffs.
enjoying watching Demar in the playoffs. What part of his playoff career has been enjoyable, tbh?
I see this board is still completely re ed and ting on Dejounte Murray.
Even better if the Spurs were the ones to eliminate both of those LA outfits.
(But if you had to pick one, just be happy they eliminated the Lakers.)
We had him the last 2 years and missed the playoffs
I agree with all of that. I think Banchero, Holmgren, or Smith would have been more valuable to the future of the team, but they will remember this the next time they come out flat in the first half.
Most basketball people know him. He's up for 1st or 2nd team all defense.
Most casuals do not.
Same for Jose Alvarado.
Pelicans are 3 - 1 against the Clippers this year. Herb Jones has some sick defensive highlights on PG.
Clippers will prob take it at home.
we missed too many shots inside 5 ft. After we closed to within 6, we sort started playing me ball and chuckin 3s.
At least we fought back and made the Pels sweat. I wanted us to lose for draft purposes, but I am very pleased with the 4th quarter showing.
now, let us hope the ping pong balls bounce our way, since we stayed true to the spirit of the game, and didn't tank.
Quite a lot of people were hoping we made the playoffs because this team was "close to contending". Well, reality check: we're not, and if by some fluke accident we'd made the playoffs we would have missed on a huge opportunity to add the talent that's missing in order to be compe ive not with mediocre teams, but with talented teams going all out. This no cause to be down, it's the best possible outcome from last night's game. Now let's hope luck smiles our way in the lottery and we make smart draft decisions, and next year could be a whole lot different.
I tuned out he must have gone off when I wasn’t watching lol.
Fivethirtyeight's forecast for the finals gives the Pelicans a slightly better chance of winning a championship this year than the Bulls, despite the fact that the Pelicans haven't even officially made the playoffs yet and the Bulls are the 6th seed.
