I like the idea of Hansbrough as well. He's a skilled player who plays hard, physical and has good size. Something the Spurs are certainly going to need.

If they could somehow swing West and Hansbrough as well as bringing Bonner back they would have a very formidable front line.
Hansbrough is solid but with Duncan/Aldridge/Diaw/West/Bonner the Spurs could use a true center for the last big. Someone with length and shot blocking.

I'm not as concerned about the shot blocking, tbh, I just want productive bigs..

Duncan still gets 2+ BPG, Aldridge will get you 1 per game, Kawhi has length, and Green is the best shot-blocking guard in the NBA..

However, if the Spurs do opt for another offensive-minded big like West, I'd rather they use the remaining perimeter spots on a potential defender off the bench, though..can't rely on Green/Leonard at every moment like they have the past 2-3 years..

Not that there was any doubt that Manu was coming back (maybe a little) but at least the roster is slowly filling out and things are becoming clearer.

Yeah, I phrased that wrong. It's not so much shot blocking that I'm worried about, rather it's having another defensive big besides Duncan. Not sure what to expect from Aldridge defensively tbh, West (assuming he joins the team) is capable but he's kinda undersized and is getting up there in age.

Aldridge isn't a great defender, but he's not Kevin Love or David Lee, not even close, tbh..he's above average when he's giving effort, and he ranked as one of the best post defenders in the league, last year, IIRC, albeit probably against weaker offensive players(assuming Lopez guarded the better big most of the time)..

It's a shame LMA doesn't like playing center...he's a great rim protector and post defender, and he has the size to match up with basically every guy he'd come across. Unfortunately for us, he's only average when it comes PnR defense. Given TD's age, it'd be nice if he were a Bosh-esque PnR defender, but oh well. Overall I'd definitely say he's above average, and it's not crazy to think that he might improve while playing alongside Duncan and under Popovich. Who knows, maybe he'll get over himself and be open to playing more center. Diaw/Aldridge duo would work really well IMO.

I second the notion of going after a decent perimeter defender. Someone like Dorell Wright would be great, although I'd be shocked if he doesn't get a bigger deal. It makes me really uneasy knowing we're a Green/Kawhi injury away from having our perimeter defense completely ruined.

This is what I'm hoping for, but with less Bonner.

Spurs needs at least one more pure 3 pt shooter not named Bonner. On the current roster only I only have confidence in Green and Mills to reliably hit a 3. Leonard needs to get back to at least 37%. Diaw is hit or miss on 3's. Ginobili has been declining on 3's for a while. Aldridge might take some 3's actually but I think he's only shooting around 35%.

That'd be fine if Pop didn't rest his starters so much and no one ever got injured. We're going to need depth.

Withey. Seriously. The dude seems like the next in line from Green, James Johnson and Whiteside. Crazy potential, but has some issues with "getting it". Seems like a great guy to at least try out as the fifth big.

But I echo Hansbrough as an option. He's in a similar boat as Ellington in that he may sign up for a one-year deal because Green recruits him. He has at least as much talent as Baynes does, so I think a good year or two in the Spurs system can help him get another decent contract.
I agree - he's an intriguing player for a 4th big for sure

Spurs just need a competent big that can bang with Howard in case Tim is in foul trouble. Any of those out there?

I wouldn't want boozer even if we could get him for free.
Boozer is a cancer. Not many players are as capable of destroying team chemistry.

Hansbrough is a nasty bas . Good to hammer, and hack, and get DeAndre Jordan types to draw a technical, or commit a flagrant. He'd be playing against other subs, so he's probably serviceable. I'd hate to rely on him for long minutes, if one of our guys got injured. But if there isn't a reasonable C out there, I'd take Hansbrough over a lot of what's left. He's a guy you can tolerate, if he's on your team. You probably don't like the he does, if he's on the team you're playing.

With Aldridge in there, Green's weak side shot-blocking is likely to be epic, for a guard. Hadn't said it, but I've thought it several times. If these guys mesh, there are going to be a lot of synergies. Danny Green's shot-blocking is one of the first that came to mind.

Asked about the advice he seeks from Danny, Gerald said: “This is a great team. When you got family that you can talk to about certain situations, to see how he does or (what the Spurs) do in a situations, why not pick the brain? I’m just glad he’s able to share advice as far as how they prepare, how they work … all that stuff carries over to the games. That’s why it’s not surprising this organization is one of the best organizations since I’ve been around.”

    Do it, tbh..

Need one backup wing (Prince, Butler) and one center (Smith) at minimum deals. Fill the rest with D-league players.
