Are you cool with governors overruling cities that want to keep shelter in place orders?
Thanks for the direct reply.
If cities deciding they want shelter in place is halal, why isn't it cool if governors want the same?
Non-medical pandemic countermeasures have broad popular support, btw, ot's not like mayors and governors have been flauting the will of the people, they're doing what they were elected to do, protect public welfare.
Governors shouldn't be unilaterally making up law. My position on this has been quite clear.
Governors have police power. Using that power isn't "making up law," it's given to governors by law.
Using police power in emergencies is one of the things we elect governors for.

It's legit to argue the wisdom of the instances of that power, but suggesting as you do that such actions are unlawful per se is surely mistaken: the use of emergency power by governors to protect public health is settled law.
That's what your overlords tell you.
Overlords didn't tell me anything. The powers of governors come from cons utions and laws.
...harumpphhh!!!
Nobody harumphs like the Winester.
Legislatures telling governors you make the law through executive orders is not cons utional. It's a cop out.
I believe you're mistaken about that. The truth as nearly as I can tell is the exact opposite of what you're saying. The power of executives at whatever level of government to declare emergencies and use police power is expressly cons utional.
That's what your overlords have told you.
You don't like what governors aredoing so you go overboard and suggest there's no legal basis for emergency powers, which is clearly false.
Saying I'm brainwashed merely for disagreeing with you on this is just silly.
Cons utions get spat on all the time. Legal is a pretty relative word, Blakehole.
Yea, you're pretty brainwashed. You know not to oppose tyranny.
That's pretty ironic... tyranny doesn't need to respect any laws or legal system. Pretty much the opposite of a country of laws.
Governments can't be tyrannical. The more you know.
Oh really? What's a dictatorship?
Oh, non-dictatorships can't be tyrannical. The more you know.
I suppose monarchies could be, but I specifically mentioned our country, a country of laws. How's that tyrannical?
You think pay for play isn't tyrannical just because you can point to a veneer or (alleged) legality?
Sure. That's what our social construct is. You get your day in court, you get to vote (most people anyways)... I mean, not a perfect system by any means, but what's tyrannical about that?
Yea, Congress may do some kangaroo court hearings. Good call.
So there's nothing tyrannical about our system... ok
I think what you have going on in is a different problem, you just scream tyranny on stuff you don't like, simply coz you keep voting and you still don't get what you want.
