Evidently you don't know how this works. Neither did I until this season. He immediately loses out on about $40M by not having the supermax tender.
Then if we trade him somewhere and he doesn't resign with that team, the most he can max out on with another team is yet another $40M below that. So yes, he can get a "max" offer wherever he ends up. But it will be $80 ing million less than a supermax. His soft underbelly and dip representation prolly cost him a minimum of $40M.
That's a ton of money, I dont care who you are.
