For the record, I don't think the Spurs ever offered Simmons 9 million per.
    I could see it on a 2+ 1 ( team option).

Crowder, who I would like to have (pipe dream) is a SF. But Simmons is still in play, and we have a plethora of combos.
Besides Kawhi and possibly Simmons, which other combos do we have? I'm not counting neither Anderson nor Gay. I would love Crowder too, since it would allow Kawhi playing the 2 on offense.

Well I hope Buford will up the Spurs' cap space, so they can't afford him. Preferably with someone good, but that part's optional.
I love Danny Green, but he's peaked, IMO. I'm OK with keeping him at his price (I still think its very good value) and I think he's far from done, but I'd flip him for a younger scorer at the SG position that has potential like KCP. That would be a pretty good upgrade at the position.

Last few days in Utah, kept hearing how #Celtics were intrigued by #Spurs free agent Dewayne Dedmon...wonder if the interest is mutual

If he signs for less than that we'll know it was BS. But if he signs for that now, then I'll believe it.

Yeah, I had a look at his shooting stats a couple of hours ago and changed my mind on being interested in getting rid of Green for him. How is his defense?
He is a solid defensive player, but for the price I'd rather just keep Green (if the Spurs keep simmons)

Shot 38% from 3. Not amazing, but really on a bad team that's not terrible. He's not going to be asked to produce as much on a team like the Spurs and those numbers will go way up.
Where do you get 38% from?

    4 seasons:

    .319
    .345
    .309
    .350

    Overall .334.

I thought we were talking abut KCP? Danny is a good piece, especially at this price in this market. If they traded him as part of a deal for a truly exciting player? I could live with it. But he sure as isn't a dump.

How did this turn into a discussion of Danny again? Someone talking about subs uting him for Danny? Ummm... not even close.
The only way the Spurs would be able to bring in someone like KCP at this point is through moving Green, most likely.

What kind of combo? Gay is a combo 4/3 for us. Murray, White, Forbes all have a mix of PG/SG skills. And, of course, Patty...

For the money KCP they would have to move parker and that is not happening. Moving Green maybe gets you enough for Gerald Henderson or Brandon Jennings tier.

Zack Lowe calls it like it is tbh

    Losers: Runners-up standing pat

The Spurs had grander plans than signing Rudy Gay, coming off an Achilles tear, and bringing back the rest of the band. Gay could unlock more Warriors-specific small-ball lineups, but it doesn't feel like enough to compete with Golden State.

Damn didn't even mention the Fatty panic signing

That was before better contracts for better players were signed.

The thread about him being offered 9 million per year type of contract. You could be right, but if he was offered a contract by the Spurs, then he is definitely trying to scrounge up as much dollars as he can get.

His best bet is to sign for 3 years and get a player option on year 3. He can then build upon what he did at the end of last season and then go for a massive payday when he's 29. There's really no need to lock himself in to a 4 year contract right now.
Why? He's been making peanuts relative to other NBA players, has 4 kids already, may never have another playoff run like he just had, and could get injured. He should try to cash in and get as much guaranteed money as possible. Set himself and his kids up for life.

Did he say that or are you saying that? Regardless he said it was good value at the time.

I want Simmons to get paid, but the Spurs better not give him 9 mil per if the market for Evans is at 3 mil per.
