Is it acceptable for a president to ask for assistance from foreign governments for dirt on political rivals?
    Did that happen?

and why do you keep asking me questions unrelated to what I post?

Just want to see what your tolerance for abuse of power/office is.

It is too difficult a question for you? It is pretty easy for me.

    2nd time.
Is it acceptable for a president to ask for assistance from foreign governments for dirt on political rivals?
Again, did that happen? I haven't seen clear evidence. Let's see what comes forward. Case looks weak at the moment.

Is it ok for a President to ask a foreign government to investigate possible corruption in their country?
    Yes, it happened.
Yes, it is ok for a President ask a foreign government to investigate possible corruption in their country.

My question was simply a general one, as yours is.

My general working theory is that self-identified conservatives aren't honest. Not answering good faith, honest questions tend to support that.

If the public gets on board, the GOP could cave. Trump continually melting down may not help him in this regard.
Trump's base will never ditch him, and anyone who goes against him in the GOP is done in a primary.

Mitt would survive, but otherwise it would have to be someone on the way out or out of office. They would still lose, but the right guy could be effective.

You’re probably right, but the political calculus could change. Never underestimate the survival instinct.

Trump isn’t as well liked as stalwart GOP Ongressional support would seem to indicate.

    Agreed on both items.

They have chosen the hill to die on.

    My take:

A president can be removed if this Congress determines that the president's conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in his/her role, because impeachment is not about punishment.
Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office of the Presidency.

    Why?

The IG found the claim credible.

You deal only in conspiracy theories, Darrin.

Trump's not liked at all by his party, but he is loved by his party's voters. His party pretends they're a conservative party but his voters know they're really a white iden y party.

    Yeah, my eyes work.

You realize that "first hand knowledge" is not a statutory requirement - and congress left it to the ICIG to make determinations of credibility.

Is it acceptable for a president to ask for assistance from foreign governments to make up dirt on political rivals?

    Lol, "make up dirt"
"make up" or "provide", either way you wish.

You're smart enough to see that, I think. You got the Ukraine timeline wrong, why not take your lumps in humility like a mensch?

    You’re being coy.

In another thread a few hours ago you said the House Judiciary Commitee voted money for an investigation before they knew what they were investigating.

    You were mistaken about that.
