We take Sheed and they can be "in the lead" for Dice any day of the week.
would be a great deal and could still get Dice the same money via the 3rd year.
(4.3+4.65+5.0, last season 50% guaranteed). the Spurs would save either 1.5 million in taxes next season, maybe also the same, if they are tax payers next year and/or could use the remaining 1.5 million to significantly beat a veteran minimum offer, if needed. (that is 1.26 million)
We take Sheed and they can be "in the lead" for Dice any day of the week.
Good lord, yet another Rasheed knob gobbler.
Rasheed is done. Kaput. If he had anything left in the tank he would have come to San Antonio. He knows he don't that's why he signed with Boston to play a backup role.
Go join the Celtics bandwagon and take along the 20+ other Wallace worshippers with you.
That's pretty harsh, friend.
However, I agree there is no point in getting hung up on Sheed: he made his decision, and now the Spurs must explore other options.
Most especially, there is no need to pine over Sheed if the Spurs get Dice, who is arguably better, and inarguably younger!![]()
I woke up this morning hoping to see some progress in the Dice signing. Hopefully today is the day. Go get him Spurs!
I'm going tonow, but hopefully we hear something soon!
Good day to you sir!![]()
I still don't see that the Spurs offering more money makes them necessarily the front runner. Actually, it seems to me that it indicates the Spurs inability to convince McDyess to sign and therefore the need to offer that extra little bonus of a couple of million dollars.
The fact that he still has not decided continues to mean to me that he is waiting to see who the new coach will be in Detroit. He really would like to stay there and if they are going to put together a compe ive season, then I think that may be all he needs to decide to stay. If instead they were going to tank it and rebuild, then he would leave.
The Spurs more than likely offered the entire MLE up front anyways, it isn't a sign of anything, it's normal business.
We are fully in rebuild mode. And Dice already knows that. But there's hope that we'll still be a compe ive ball club. Not 'contenders' by any stretch. But a 5/6/7 seed is not out of the question. Dice is just loyal to a fault.
all of that is true regarding big baby in last year's playoffs.
none of that is true for the rest of his 2 year career.
Goooood morning McDyess thread! Let's hope for some good news today!
Sounds like his Houston home played a role in the spurs getting him after all.
Patience.
Time will Reward.
Hopefully during the scheduled meeting between Dyess and Dumars, Joe will thank Dyess for his loyalty, tell him to move on and go get his ring.
The Pistons still have an estimated $3.5 million to sign another free agent. They're hoping to resign Antonio McDyess, though McDyess can get approximately $2 million more for a starting salary if he signs elsewhere.

Got damn, HoopsWorld is such fail. That whole take was filed with errors. The most blatant being that Otis Smith admitted they weren't even going after McDyess. The Rich Get Richer: Former Piston forward Antonio McDyess has agreed to join the San Antonio Spurs. Word is he'll sign a three-year deal with two years fully guaranteed and a third non-guaranteed year. McDyess coming off the market also changes the path of Brandon Bass, rumor has it that New Orleans and Orlando are the strongest suitors for Bass, however sources close to Brandon's camp say with McDyess leaving Detroit, the Pistons who have a little bit of change left under the salary cap after deals with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva will pursue Bass.
All of it may be futile, as it's believed the Dallas Mavericks have told Bass to find his best deal and they would likely match it. Bass is unrestircted so he can choose any team he likes, but if the Mavericks will top the best offer he receives, he may be a free agent ghost.
Magic GM Otis Smith is expected to take the entire seven days before making a final decision on restricted free agent Marcin Gortat, with an informed sources saying Otis intend to play Gortat against Bass, saying to Bass if he does not make a decision on Orlando the team would match Gortat. It's believed Antonio McDyess was the second name on Orlando's wish list.
