lol oh ok my bad. Yeah I dont think much of Shields so I think you are right.
No, Shields.

That’s very possible but a huge mistake IMO. The orgs need to make their own iden y and quit sucking on the UFC t*t. They need to grow their own talent. Cast offs can only take you so far.
Yeah if anything they are just proving that UFC is the big dog in the yard. As a MMA fan I do like having options. The crazy thing is that the UFC I first started watching 3 years ago is totally different. I think only Chuck is there from that era. Funny how fast these fighters either move on or quit/retire.
On a side note I just found out my cousin is training to be a MMA fighter. He is part of a Gracie camp in Chicago. Would be something if he makes it on lets say the Ultimate Fighter.
If he does anything in a tournament make sure you upload it to youtube so we can see it.
So with Shaw leaving is it safe to say eliteXC will be dead after a few more cards. Same with Affliction? If so the UFC is going to be STACKED.

what does this mean for the UFC?
I love the UFC countless times over more than any other league but the thought of their just being 1 big mma org for too long is depressing. So many orgs are failing and losing money its not good for growth.
Supposedly even DREAM has really bad ratings now.
Yeah I don't want that either, hopefully one of the many will survive to give UFC compe ion.
By no means am I a money man
But I think it means unless something big happens and they get flushed with some investors sorta soon the UFC picks through the ashes sometime in early 09 and we see Kimbo Vs TBA in February on PPV in the octagon.
I had no clue it was even a publically traded company until today.
Ok I will, I havent talked to him but ill call him and get him to record any of his fights.
wow i dont want to see everyone die out but if dream, proelite, and affliction all die out. (and not to mention the ifl which just did) The UFC's roster would be amazing. i want the ufc to continue to grow but there needs to be some US compe ion, because some of the jap fighters will always be jap fighters.
God knows what would happen affliciton and exc went under.
Maybe they should merge!! They can put Kimbo up against some real HW talent (so he can get squashed hahaha)!!
That would be the smart thing to do. Merge the talent and the payroll. Like I said that would be the smart thing to do, so it wont happen.
Man can you imagine if it did!! Affliction would have a primetime deal with CBS and showtime as well and they would be just as big as UFC overnight with their talent alone. The only le AFF has is the hw so have Fedor destroy bigfoot in their main even fight. I dont know about you guys but I really like Elite XC because of the female mma fights. They haven't disappointed yet.
Two companies merging is a mutually beneficial action, and in this case the UFC gains nothing from that. Their in the dominate pisition and they can dictate how they absorb the company/contracts…..Should it come to that.
This past Saturday's "EliteXC: Unfinished Business" event in Stockton, Calif. -- the second EliteXC event to air on network TV via CBS -- had a large and energetic crowd of spectators.
But few of them -- less than 33 percent in all -- paid to be there at the Stockton Arena.
Of the 8,541 tickets the organization printed for the event, just 2,871 were sold. A total of 3,701 were given away, and 2,023 "deadwood" tickets went unused, according to paperwork the California State Athletic Commission today sent to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
This past Saturday's event drew a live gate of just $268,715. A total of $340,960 in tickets were comp'd, and $206,155 worth of tickets went unsold.
Needless to say, the numbers are hugely disappointing.
"Unfinished Business" also turned out to be a ratings bust; after peaking with more than 6.5 million viewers for its network-TV debut in May, this past Saturday's ratings slipped by more than 40 percent. A simultaneous e TV replay of UFC 84 -- an event two months' old -- actually drew more viewers (433,000 to 341,000) in the covered "males 18-34" demographic, though EliteXC scored a slightly higher overall rating.
Despite the live gate and ratings disappointments, the event was lauded for improved production values and better pacing. The night's CBS card (and preceding Showtime card) featured solid match-ups and good fights, though without superstars Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and Gina Carano competing -- and with less advertising on CBS airwaves -- the show failed to generate the type of buzz that accompanied May's CBS debut.
EliteXC returns to CBS airwaves on Oct. 4 live from the 20,000-seat BankAtlantic Center near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Wow. Thats bad lol. Im sure the next will be a lot better with Kimbo and them being in his "backyard" to go along with the nice event that took place Saturday, but Dana White must be laughing his a$$ off right now.
There were some good fights on the card. And if you are a real MMA fan, then you probably enjoy this card. But for the casual fans, it really lacked the big names to get more viewers attention.
Perfect summary!
Small orgs for the die hards thrive on the likes of hdnet, not networks.
