The only thing holding me back moving from Holland to San Antone is the freakin' humidity in the summer.

The rush hour traffic here is still nothing compared to cities like L.A., Houston, Atlanta, and many, many others.
In Los Angeles and Orange County you have to plan your day around traffic. You cannot just hop in your car and go anywhere at 2pm.

I moved to "the OC" (which we never called it that) in 1982 and there was hardly any traffic then. But with all the building they've done out there, that's quickly changed. SA was like that when I first moved here in 1997, but it's changing. It's starting to remind me of OC.

I avoid the 410 as much as possible.

I came to San Antonio from Michigan 9 years ago. Now I live in Leon Valley, which is a really nice little place. The weather stinks, but the food can't be beat, because you can find food from anywhere in the world around here. And the Christmas lights on the Riverwalk every year are beautiful! The job market is decent and the housing VERY affordable.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd live in Texas, let alone San Antonio and was not thrilled when I found out I was moving here 8 years ago. The weather sucks 6 months out of the year for me, but you can't beat the cost of living. The people are very friendly.

Now if someone could tell me what exactly we are celebrating during Fiesta, I'd be happy. No one I asked knows.

Fiesta celebrates Texas' independence from Mexico, mainly the Heroes of Alamo. A lot of people confuse it with Cinco de Mayo, which happens arounf the same time, and people just celebrate both.

san antonio would be percieved by a lot of people as a "big little city"...it grown quite a bit and keeps growing, but it still stubbornly hangs on to the small town mentality. Population wise, we are the 8 largest city in the nation (city wise). But when you factor in other cities overall population, we are still much smaller as an overall metro area. For example, dallas-ft worth is the 9 largest, but san antonio doesn't even compare to the metroplex overall, same as seattle, cleveland, detroit, boston.....

There is stuff to do if you want to do it. I lived in Los Angeles for 17 years before moving here and I don't get bored at all. You can do the same things you can do in any city. It's not like there isn't entertainment if you want it. Yes, you can see all the Spurs games on TV. And as far as going to games, the cheapest seats are $9 in the corners of the upperdeck. You can get decent lower level seats for around $50.

San Antonio has none of the following:

    hurricanes
    earthquakes
    mudslides
    large grassland fires
    blizzards
    volcanos
    tornados (very very few)
    ice storms

SA does have some flash flooding, but unless you're and absolute idiot, you'll never get caught in any water.

I rather have heat than cold. You can always put on shorts and a hat and drink water to stay cool, but no matter how many coats and pairs of underwear you put on, eventually you'll get cold.

To me one of the downsides of S.A is that it seems like ever since the flood of 98, it rains too damn much like it is right now. Summers seem more rainy and humid instead of hot and dry like before.

I've lived in San Antonio my entire life (26 wonderful years...hehe) and I love it. Recently I decided that I wanted to move to California because I had been there many times. I went to visit friends for two weeks last summer but I couldn't stay. I just felt that I wanted to be back home w/the family and the people. So I don't think I could ever move from here (as others have said too). Love San Antonio.

My bestfriend went to college in Lubbock, Texas and she was excited to leave San Antonio. After a year she was complaining that she missed San Antonio. Now she's back home (after graduating) and doesn't want to leave.

You should try it out...even for vacation or something and see how you like it. That's the best way to go.

What are the manin groups of ppl that live there? HOw do they percieve the spurs? are there any SA-specific habits or celebrations or anything unique to SA culture?
Just a bunch of Mexicans and a few others. They drink beer, watch the Spurs, Cowboys, Lucha Libre and open up taco restaurants on every corner. Other than that, this is a regular city with only one professional team.

Sequ has not been the same since his unfortunate lose to "The Beast" in the MWWF (Midget World Wrestling Federation) for the world le. The Beast accidently landed right on the soft and still growing part of Sequ's brain. Sad, since then he's semi vegetable and still short.

Yeah, all 82 games on shown either on WB35, KENS 5, or FOX Sports, and then you have the national games on ESPN, TNT, ABC, etc.

However, if you were a Spur fan when Paragon Cable was still around about 9-10 years ago, a lot of the games were on PAY PER VIEW! That sucked so bad.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this to you duncan2k5, but the average salary of people in San Antonio who have moved here from St. Croix is $14,000,000 per year.
