I've lived here all my life...not a spurs fan, but I love San Antonio though.
I was just wondering. how is it? what are the manin groups of ppl that live there? HOw do they percieve the spurs? are there any SA-specific habits or celebrations or anything unique to SA culture? Im seriously considering Moving to SA when I am done with college because it seems like a nice place and my team is the spurs and will be for life. my girlfriend doesn't wanna live SA because she doesn't like them. she likes the twolves, nuggets and rockets. she is from st.croix like me but hates spurs (traitor!!) so she really doesn't wanna live there. but im thinking i might have to physically carry her there if i make my mind up. so how many of you live in SA right now?

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd live in Texas, let alone San Antonio and was not thrilled when I found out I was moving here 8 years ago. The weather sucks 6 months out of the year for me, but you can't beat the cost of living. The people are very friendly.
Now if someone could tell me what exactly we are celebrating during Fiesta, I'd be happy. No one I asked knows.
lve lived in SA all my life love it but not as much as I love Miami.
Spurs fan as long as I can remember. But I like the Dolphins.
Drop the girl and move here. Good town, good peeps, good food, good team and no traffic.
^^ Word.
Especially on the peeps and the food.
breakfast tacos (da bomb) plus
fiesta and hot chicks in the summer.
I was born (53 years ago, egad) and raised here. There's no better place in the world.
Does it matter? It's a two week party! Now if someone could tell me what exactly we are celebrating during Fiesta, I'd be happy. No one I asked knows.
If it didn't matter, I wouldn't have asked. And I avoid that two week party.
I'm curious as to what Fiesta is all about too. No one really ever tells me.
If I remember correctly, Fiesta is supposed to celebrate Mexicos independence from Spain. And is San Antonios answer to Mardi Gras! The Spurs are S.A.'s only professional franchise and is loved by 80 - 90% of the population (when they're winning) The people are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet and as S y said the summers are torture, lasting about 6 months of the year. It's not so much the heat but the humidity. Mexican culture is predominate here but a varitey of ethnic lifestyles are celebrated throughout the year as well as in neighboring towns, New Braunfels Wurstfest is one that comes to mind. I have lived here for the last 30 years and I have seen this town grow into one of the biggest little cities you'll ever love!!!!

About Fiesta San Antonio
One of America's truly great festivals, Fiestaź San Antonio is a 10-day celebration held every April to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto and to celebrate San Antonio's rich and diverse cultures. This year marks the 114th celebration!
In 1891, a group of ladies decorated horse-drawn carriages, paraded in front of the Alamo, and pelted each other with flower blossoms. The Parade was organized to honor the heroes from the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. That original "Battle of Flowers" parade became an annual event and has grown into a multi-cultural community celebration unlike any other in our country. From its small beginnings, Fiesta San Antonio has grown into an elaborate ten-day celebration featuring over 150 events, including a parade where floats really float down the San Antonio River.

Everyone in town knows who the Spurs are. They're the only show.
Oh and in the winter in never gets too cold. No snow.

I stand corrected on my earlier post, Thank You foodie and writer.
I will take an Arizona summer over a Texas summer any day.
I have to disagree S y. Arizona summers suck big ones as well. 115 degrees and dry or 95 degrees and 80% humidity. They are both .
Before I moved, I had the choice of moving to Phoenix, Denver, San Antonio, Dallas or Houston. I chose San Antonio for many reasons but the main is quality of life and the people. You will not find a better community!
Yeah, because those 112 degree days are a "dry heat."
Lol.
I think it only hit 100 or more like 5 times last summer in SA.
The worst day I believe was a 104 degree day. I remember that one well. Because most of the afternoon I was cutting my backyard. Freakin' huge backyard!
I live here in Kingwood.
I agree. I lived in Phoenix for a long time and the summer never bothered me. The humidity here is crazy.I will take an Arizona summer over a Texas summer any day.
Duncan2k5... Here's a site/thread showcasing San Antonio:

Sorry, but I lived it Tucson and I will still take an Arizona summer over a Texas summer. I cannot stand humidity.
Some pictures:
Part of Downtown San Antonio:
The Alamo Quarry Market (top), the Alamo Quarry Golf Course (middle; far right), and the Lincoln Heights neighborhood (bottom):
The Quarry Market is where Malik has his restaurant.
Medical Center in Northwest San Antonio (about 12-14 miles nw of downtown):
The Spurs practice facility is very close to the Medical Center.
Can't forget the Big Boots at North Star:
