The Saints had back to back years of being Super Bowl picks, and not even making the playoffs. I wonder if they will ever get the D to make it to the Super Bowl.

I'm glad Deuce was released. Pierre Thomas deserves the starting job and the Saints are over the cap anyway. We need to rebuild our defense, not keep guys past their prime.

I'm kinda disappointed about trading Chandler since I wanted West gone, but we needed to make this trade. I think we will get more production from Wilcox/Armstrong/Smith combined than with Chandler. We're still better than teams like the Mavs, Rockets, etc. Chandler wasn't playing well this season and he's been injured as well. Peja's salary killed us. We couldn't trade him so we had to trade Chandler.
I agree it was Duece's time to go but it still doesn't make it any less depressing. As for Peja I was saying that in the off season when his "value" would have been at it's peak it was time to trade him on one of the Hornets boards and everyone had a heart attack and said I was out of my mind, and we should keep the "chemistry" that we have now. Well that worked out great.

    Why not trade West instead?

Actually that's the thing that the Hornets will miss the most. Without him they go from being Charmine soft to ing wet Kleenex soft.
He wasn't playing elite defence this season. In fact, the Hornets have been a better defensive team with Chandler off the floor. I think he'll recover his mojo, but only next season.

Because in comparison to Chandler, West's contract is actually a pretty good deal for the Hornets.

I really don't know. Our two high-priced DEs have been non-existent the last two seasons meaning we get no pass rush whatsoever. Also, our safeties can't make any big plays. We only have 4 picks this season due to making a terrible trade for Shockey who we really don't need. Also, our best player defensively, Vilma, is a free agent.

There is hope with our new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, last year's first round pick DT Sedrick Ellis, and solid young CBs, but we need to rush the passer and get better play from our LBs and safeties. I believe our offense is the best in the league. We were first in yards and points scored. We have a superstar QB, good RBs, WRs, and a really good o-line. We just need to fix our defense.

I knew letting Pargo go would kill their chances. I actually like this trade they just made. Both Wilcox, and Smith are better than Tyson. Tyson is a scrub, and yet the Hornets are still not contenders.
I wont say chandler is a scrub but this is his 3rd TEAM since he was drafted he is not THAT good ...
Wilcox is underrated and a Laker killer ...Joe Smith solid but dont see how he will mesh with West because Joe smith is just an older version of him ..

Where do you see this at? I watched the games and when Chandler was out the interior D sucked. Also it limits how much gambling Paul can do now trying to get steals knowing that there is not a 7 foot eraser behind him to block/alter numerous shots.

Letting Pargo go was fine.....Pargo was overrated anyway.

The Paul-West pick and roll being the only way for them to score in the half court was why they weren't contenders.

I agree. I just watched his press conference. Pretty depressing since he was a true professional his whole career. I was raised in Mississippi so I remember his days at Ole Miss as well. It's sinking in that his career as a Saint is over. Pretty sad thinking about it. I wish him the best in life. DEEUUUUUUCEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Exactly....especially Wilcox.
Wilcox is a decent offensive player who doesn't rebound or play defense.

I don't see how that's what the Hornets need.

    1st round exit.

What a ing trade for OKC. A young athletic big that can defend and rebound is exactly what they needed. They'll be better than Portland in a few years.

Your allowed to talk when you find your way out of the first round again.

And don't bring that about "2 rings es" because 1) your posting on a site where a team has won 4 since then 2) The guy that led you to said les hasn't played for your team in 8 years.

I disagree. When I watched the games I saw Chandler playing as a fairly ordinary defender, far from the level he used to be at. His screen/roll defence was particularly bad, but even at the blocks people were forcing him to take retreat steps more than usual. Probably a consequence of the injuries, but still... Stats also show the Hornets allowing more points per possession when Chandler was on the court, but I don't think that's meaningful.

In all honesty, I believe this trade may very well make the Hornets better this season, especially considering Chandler's injury. Now, for the future, that's another story...

If the Hornets had gotten 1 of the 5 1st rounders the Thunder have I wouldn't feel as bad about this trade. But some how Bower managed towhiff on that and pretty much got his ass handed to him in this trade.
