Scola is obviously much better, but it doesn't make a difference..we have Drew Gooden, who is a much better option than Bonner..it's as simple as that..

honestly, after seeing him do well today in Rockets game 1 compared to Bonner's game 1 as a starter, I'm seriously starting to believe that Pop might not be losing his touch. He just needs to see a psychiatrist. I think on sub-concious level he's trying to vindicate the bad FO-Scola debacle by trying his damnedest to develop Bonner into a serviceable big man next to Timmy.
He's delusional and in denial about the Scola incident. He just can't rationalize it happened. That's the only logical explanation for Bonner's preferential treatment, the 30 + starter minutes and that phony baloney "b-b-but he shoots threes!! look how he stretches the defense!" strategy.

I don't want to turn this into a LS thread, but I want to point out it wasn't his rebounding or scoring what I was alluding to. The guy had to guard Aldrige, and he was super physical and defended him incredibly well. That's what I mean by could have used a guy like him.

I'm not sure how Bonner is going to help the team in this series. He's weak inside and he's just going to foul his way out of the game. I said this in another thread, but he was a waste of the 18 minutes he played tonight. He had ONE rebound, and no points, with 4 fouls, not to mention his horrible defense. If you're going to be THAT bad on offfense AND defense, you don't belong out there.

I mean this guy Really, Really Sucks! He should be in the D-League but, for some reason Pop continues to start his sorry ass. They were eating him alive tonight. I dunno, maybe Pop is just tired of this season and wants to take a long vacation. This team has just never developed a defense. And when Bonner is in there missing assignment after assignment we really stink the arena up. And it is time for Bowen to hang em up. The one thing this years Spurs team is great at is blowing 13-25 point leads to both playoff and non-playoff teams. I still don't support having him in the starting lineup, but I have to show him some love..

his 3-pointer has been off for a while now..actually, probably ever since we signed Gooden..but he didn't put his head down and let his play sink, he's working on the rest of his game to make up for it..

he's playing tougher and a little more physical..he's making his 2-point shots and driving to the basket a lot more..his hook shot off the run has been looking good..

the old Bonner would have undoubtedly put his head down and allow Pop to have him riding on the end of the bench..good to see some improvement mentally..

This isn't the time to be applauding a guy for taking baby steps towards discovering self-confidence. Give him all of the emotional head you wanna but we need someone out there who will produce. Period.
