those kids from California, S.A. beat their ass earlier in the week why should we have to play them again? WTF!?!?
You want to be the best, you play the best. SA lost. It wasn't their year, but damn if they didn't get a city excited about something other than counting 100-degree days.

It might not have been their year, but it's the best year of any little league team from San Antonio -- ever. And they'll end up as the 3rd or 4th best little league team in the world, so they've had just an absurdly wonderful tournament run.

Having participated in this little league tournament when I was a kid, I know how difficult it can be to win a district tournament, let alone a sectional tournament, then a state tournament, then a regional tournament, and then a pool at the World Series. That's what this team has done on its way to whatever the ultimate result is -- it's basically what Chula Vista, Chinese Taipei, and Reynosa have done, too -- it's a better year than any of these kids could have reasonably expected when the tournament process started on July 1.

Indeed, the loss to California on Saturday night was the first (and perhaps only) loss that the McAllister Park kids have suffered through 5 tournaments.

Just for the sake of posterity, this is (as best I can tell) what the McAllister Park kids have gotten done since they started playing on July 1

    DISTRICT 19 TOURNAMENT\
    7/1 -- McAllister 20, Northside Suburban 1
    7/2 -- McAllister 16, Helotes 0
    7/6 -- McAllister 22, Greater Northeast 0
    7/8 -- McAllister 13, Alamo Heights 0
    7/10 -- McAllister 14, Alamo Heights 0

    SECTION 3 TOURNAMENT
    7/15 -- McAllister 19, Eagle Pass 1
    7/17 -- McAllister 15, Bulverde 2
    7/19 -- McAllister 24, Eagle Pass 0

    TEXAS WEST STATE TOURNAMENT
    7/24 -- McAllister 8, Waco Midway 2
    7/25 -- McAllister 10, Lubbock Western 5
    7/27 -- McAllister 6, Del Mar 3

    SOUTHWEST REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
    8/7 -- McAllister 5, Mississippi 3
    8/8 -- McAllister 12, Oklahoma 1
    8/9 -- McAllister 12, Lousiana 3
    8/11 -- McAllister 16, Arkansas 1
    8/13 -- McAllister 6, Texas East 4

    LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES
    8/21 -- McAllister 10, New England (Massachusetts) 1
    8/23 -- McAllister 12, Great Lakes (Kentucky) 0
    8/25 -- McAllister 6, West (California) 3
    8/26 -- McAllister 4, Mid-Atlantic (New York) 1
    8/29 -- McAllister 2, West (California) 12
    8/30 -- McAllister v. Mexico

It's a remarkable run, regardless of their ultimate placing.

Oh, no doubt. SA really couldn't be prouder.

One of the best moments of this has been against Kentucky when John Shull came out and just told the kids to keep smiling. A great sportsman moment.
