LOL, yeah getting a pick will help them out when Tim and so on are a year older, yeah thats the plan!!!! GET REAL they are going to make it and they need to turn it around soon. Missing the playoffs with this roster would just be pathetic, a JOKE.

I hate championship or bust Spurs fan. Even if the team isn't really capable of winning a le, I still love seeing playoff Tim Duncan. What you're proposing is an enormous slap in the face to Tim.

Yeah, really defeatist. Spurs are working hard no doubt to find something that works and some fans are ready to throw the Spurs under the yeam bus.

If we don't make a move by the trade deadline and are hovering around the 6-8th seed...give me the slim chance at John Wall as opposed to scraping toward a sweep in the first round by a better team.

Winning championships aren't just great; they're intoxicating. I think the OP's ramblings is evidence of this. Furthermore, I think every team and every player should aspire to reach that point at some time in their history/career. That said, I also think there are numerous accomplishments other than rings that are honorable and (should be) thrilling to a fan, such as playoff appearances, all star appearances, and divisional les (to name a few).

Up until the 1999 championship, the Spurs were a franchise that were pretty consistently good but never great. Some fans may disagree, but I feel like the fact that Spurs have made the playoffs in 30 out of their 34 seasons in the NBA is one of the most impressive aspects about the franchise.

For this season, I still see the Spurs as a darkhorse contender, but I've surrendered the idea that the Spurs are one of the primary contenders for the championship. And you know what? This is still a great season. We've still got a shot, which is thrilling to follow and a lot more than many teams can say. We've had the opportunity to watch the growth of young guys like Hill and Blair who give me much more comfort about the Spurs future. Biggest of all, we've gotten to watch one of the game's greatest ever, Tim Duncan, steady trudge along doing his thing. I haven't always appreciated the fact that such a great athlete plays for my favorite team, but with likely only a season or two left of his dominance, I've got to enjoy it for what it is, because this is it.

To the OP and his supporters: Chill out and enjoy the game. You've had the opportunity to witness one of the greatest runs in the history of sports. You should absorb as much as you can, because later on we're going to be talking about how incredible the Duncan Spurs were for years.

no ! This team just needs to get its together. We have enough talent to trade or at the very least have a puncher's chance in the playoffs. As crappy as we've been playing our record is actually respectable and much better than it should be.

Nope. This is do-or-die mode for the Spurs since Duncan is in his later years, front office made some big trades and spending a lot of $$$, and we've got guys like Manu to evaluate since his contract ends this season. Without knowing how our team operates in the playoffs it only adds more questions and its easier to build off of a playoffs team than a complete rebuild. , the reason for tanking a season would be to rebuild and the Spurs already did that somewhat since nearly half the roster is new.

As a Spurs fan the best regular season gauge has yet to come, the Rodeo Road Trip.
I agree, I'm not judging this season until after the rodeo road trip.

If you root for the Spurs to fail your not a fan period. I wonder how many will be around when Duncan hangs them up and the window closes. Times thereafter will be rough.

As much as it hurt to lose to the Lakers and Mavericks in consecutive post-seasons, I'd never want the Spurs to tank or miss the playoffs. Do some people realize that the team could conceivably tie or surpass the '60's Boston Celtics and '80's Los Angeles Lakers with the most consecutive 50 win seasons and playoff appearances (someone please fact check)?? That is the sort of historical impact this organization and Tim Duncan has reached over the last 13th seasons.

    The answer is: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and ask Pistons fans if they enjoy seeing their team fall into the abyss of a lottery-bound, bottom-feeder team???

It is impossible to tie 22 continuous years of playoff appearances by the Nationals + 76ers (same franchise). But we are the active leaders, Tim Duncan = greatness
