i think what mainly lost the game was the lack of defensive adjustments. they sat in the same cover 2 zone the ENTIRE GAME. didnt bother to mix it up once Brees had them figured out, and once Freeney's ankle started tightening up which really took away a lot of the pressure they were able to get in the first half.

The Colts' D might has been good the past few years but IMO there's always some weird undependable vibe it gives off. It's great in the sense that everyone besides Mathis and Freeney can get injured without affecting it too much, but there's something not right about a defense set up like that (mainly that if Freeney or Mathis goes down, it's ed).

The Saints' D might not be good but at least it's capable of mixing things up and isn't so dependent on 1-2 players. If the Saints' D kept trotting out the same coverage over and over again, Manning would have had a field day.

who is your greatest QB then?
    it sure as isn't Marino.

The great ones don't need to take on stupid roles in movies like Ace Ventura to try to cement their legacy

ive never thought that their defense was all that great. they have their spurts where they step it up, but generally, they rely a lot on Peyton and the offense keeping them off the field and keeping the pressure off of them. usually they are able to score so easily, that it forces most opposing offenses to go into a pass happy mode, which allows more opportunities for rushers like Freeney and Mathis to get pressure and create easy opportunities for the rest of the defense.

this game was perfect proof of what i have constantly been saying... the Colts LIVE off of Peyton Manning. the dude IS the Indianapolis Colts. without him, they are probably the most screwed team in the NFL. Polian needs to get him some more help (on the DEFENSIVE side of the ball)

that's probably true and I would add they need some more RB help.

reminds me of Elway in the 80s super bowls.

Again I agree, their offense in large part is their defense. Get a lead so Freeney and Mathis don't have to play the run, they get to fly by the guy who is supposed to be blocking them and they get pressure quickly. They generally "step up" in the 2 minute defense type situation when the other team can't run the ball because of the clock. Everyone in their secondary is great at certain things but has glaring weaknesses against certain things.

Any team able to run a balanced, ball control offense is gonna give the Colts problems. The Dolphins lost to them this year but dominated T.O.P. and probably would have won if they weren't so run heavy. Before New England went to a -ass pass happy offense and had a ball control offense, they would always kill Indy. The Saints are the latest example of a team that can run and pass their way to long drives that keep their offense off the field and get their defense tired.

yeah that could help them as well, although i was suprised at how well addai played. im sure some of that was because the saints completely sold out on defense to defend the pass (which wasnt really working) but Addai was running very hard, fighting constantly for a few extra yards. but as long as they have peyton and that lethal passing offense, their run game will be able to at least be remotely effective, even if they dont seem to get a lot of total yards through a season.

i think they should focus their ENTIRE offseason to the defense. the offense will be just fine. colts will still be contenders for several more years, and the main reason for that is Manning.

    lmao

convenient how those on the other side of the Manning/Brady fence forget about Brady's handful of chokes. Did any of you not see him suck massive amounts of just a few weeks ago against a team the Colts raped?

    Quick, check WIKIPEDIA
    Hugh Millen

I miss the days where my Cowboys were kings and the pats started Hugh Millen. We called the 3rd string QB on my HS squad Hugh because he sucked so bad.

Besides, NO and Brees would have impaled Brady and the pats even worse so don't know why anyone is throwing pats around like this vindicates their average season.

Brady is coming off a major injury..it's kind of funny that everybody likes to on the Patriots and Brady so much, such haters..I'm not a Pats fan, but I have a lot of respect for them..they're clearly the team of the decade and Brady is clearly better than Peyton "Rihanna" Manning..

yeah, a handful of chokes and 3 rings to go with it. And he didn't throw one right to a CB in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl he lost.

Do you ing read? This doesn't have anything to do with Brady sucking ass this year.

Why the do you think Montana is mentioned? You think anybody believes Joe Montana could put on some shoulder pads tomorrow and outplay Brady or Manning? Use your ing brain. Brady all-time is greater than Manning, just like Montana all-time is greater than Brady.

Brady hasn't been clutch in some time now. I don't know why people here think he's some untouchable being because of superbowls he was on the ride for.

rofl let's not go into QB's being on the ride for a Super Bowl victory. I've got a box score and a picture of a certain Bears QB fumbling a certain football to bukkake that argument.
