good call. no one knows who lebron james is right now.

In the US, he's a huge name but on an international level, it's a pittance compared to what it can be. The international basketball fan knows who Lebron is. Everyday man in Europe or Asia has no idea who he is. I hate to sound elitist, but if you guys have had the opportunity to travel abroad or have relatives in other countries, Lebron is a nobody.

They know one guy in the NBA. The other guy. Guess why?

Lebron goes to New York and his goal of being a global machine continues unabated.

Most Popular NBA Jerseys in Europe

You might remember the U.S. national sales from April. Forget those rankings. Today, we’re talking about the most popular jerseys in European markets. Take a look at the list. Every American — except for aces LeBron and Wade — is either an adidas athlete (Europe’s penultimate athletic apparel company) or a teammate of a foreign-born player who’s also on the top 15.

Our only question is… Where’s the love for Hedo?

    MOST POPULAR JERSEYS in EUROPE

    1. Kobe Bryant
    2. Kevin Garnett
    3. Pau Gasol
    4. LeBron James
    5. Dwyane Wade
    6. Tony Parker
    7. Dwight Howard
    8. Andrea Bargnani
    9. Jose Calderon
    10. Paul Pierce
    11. Dirk Nowitzki
    12. Rudy Fernandez
    13. Marco Belinelli
    14. Joakim Noah
    15. Gilbert Arenas

and if you think nike/gatorade/mcdonalds are doing a poor job of promoting lebron now. if you think the media doesn't already ride lebron's jock non-stop.

championships are what will make lebron great and he can win them in cleveland with dan gilbert. it's not going to some hole team in a big media market.

Most people in Europe don't know much about LeBron and don't really care.

'Some NBA player. The best? You mean like Michael Jordan? Oh didn't know that... Where does he play? The Bulls?'

He becomes #1 by a landslide.

What does that tell you that his conglomerate is pushing him like nobody in history yet he's not #1 worlwide?

    Figures.

What's even worse is that those #'s represent his popularity among people who buy jerseys...aka basketball fans. Did you read the entire en post or did you read one sentence and go foaming at the mouth. Read again. I didn' address basketball fans. They've already been won over. Then if you can't digest it, read again. Then maybe take a trip somewhere outside the United States. And no, that trip to TJ doesn't count.

We're not talking about Cleveland. We're talking about LeBron. He can play in Nome, Alaska and still be a media giant.

This isn't 1954 anymore. You don't have to go off to the big city to get noticed. If you're enough of a star the big city will come to you.
I agree. Lebron is staying in Cleveland. He is on a compe ive team there and wants to bring that team their first le.

so going to nyc is going to make lebron revered by non-basketball fans worldwide? lol i love it. i guess that's why patrick ewing and david lee are adored by fans around the world. and man just going to new york makes all their players immediate worldwide superstars. i don't think i can name a player on the knicks roster other than lee or gallo. who else has played on that craphole team over the past decade? no one ing knows because they suck

lebron can win championships in cleveland....not new york. he will make more money winning championships.

and please educate me more about this world you speak of. i'm sure you've learned a ton by visiting tourist sites in europe.
