As for dallas, they'll be ok. Its a large market team and they;ll ALWAYS be in the mix. As long as cuban is there, we'll be compe ive.
    Dallas ok? GMAB!

As long as Cuban is there, you can count on:

    - annual ing and moaning about the officiating
    - second-guessing and undermining the coaching staff
    - micromanaging the players
    - "knee-jerk" personnel decisions
    - misplaced blame, excuse-making, and a lack of accountability

I'll happily be in attendance for the memorial, as fans and media nit-pick over the team's dead carcas. It'll also be fun watching your organization reshuffle the deck again this summer, which will likely soil the fruits of a very good, competent, midseason trade they made with the Wizards.

Your next offseason party will begin with the the NBA draft. Ooops. I forgot. You guys don't have a 1st round pick again this year. The oldest team in the NBA and no draft pick. No worries. I'm sure New Jersey will send it's regards, as they have the pleasure of your 27th pick. How's that Jason Kidd trade working out? It's truly the gift that keeps on giving. How's that for knee-jerking?

Good luck trying to obtain Wade, Amare, Lebron and Bosh. Good luck trying to resign Haywood. Your first order of business had better be resigning Dirk. Meanwhile, your core will continue evolve around a washed-up, 38 year-old PG (Kidd), a former, do-everything jumping-jack who can't play in the half-court and is clearly in rapid decline, (Marion), and an undersized, hot-n-cold, trash-talking, no-defense playing, 6th man, who is long on mouth and short on ability (Turtlehead). All of which are making big money and you're committed to for THE coming years. The biggest bright spot is an electrifying rookie SG (Beaubois), who the coach keeps chained to the bench, when he could've at least been developing either at the NBA level or the D-League.

Every year it's a new campaign, a new slogan, and more reasons WHY the Mavs will be great. And every year it's epic failure. Yet Cuban will still be there at the forefront, leading a new and improved marketing campaign, in an effort to try and win back fans and lure the locals back to that Barnum and Bailey circus, that takes place at the AAC Big Top. I got news for you, fan apathy is setting in like rigor mortis. The locals here in Dallas are rolling their eyes and are losing faith fast.

Meanwhile, the Spurs are poised for a deep playoff run, have 3 superstar-level, Hall of fame players (Manu, TP and Duncan), a small contingent of young players, including two (Blair and Hill) that are already emerging contributors, and the 20th pick in the June NBA draft. All that combined with arguably the best front office in the NBA.

If that is bleak, I'll take the Spurs situation over the Mavs all day - and twice on Sunday.

The Mavs problem remains the enabler Mark Cuban. He continues to enable his players to make excuses for their play. First it was Avery because he wanted the Mavs to play harder. Now its Carlisle. Put Pop on the Mavs and they still would not win a le. Put Pop and Holt on the Mavs and the would win. Pop has the control as a coach. There are no excuses with Pop. The whilstle blows hot and cold both ways. You keep worrying about the whistle then you are not worrying about the play. Certain Mav players at times take tougher shots trying to draw a foul rather than making the shot and playing hard nose defense. The players may never know about the defensive concept of basketball because Cuban continues to blame everyone else for their short comings. The players simply follow suit.

im glad you realize the conspiracy behind Stern and him ing Cuban any way he can.......
I'm sure it has nothing to do with Cuban's antics, his mouth, and his general baggery, right? I'm one of the few Spurs fans who actually likes Mark Cuban but have the stones to call a spade a spade. He consistently shoots himself in the foot when it comes to Stern and the league. I give him points for balls but nothing for smarts.

It's much more ballyhooed so to speak by the "experts" on tv when they talk about great series.
The 2005 Spurs/Suns series was for a Finals berth; the 2007 Spurs/Suns series likely decided the NBA Champion.

Mavs/Spurs is fun for fans of these teams and the games are close and intense, but the ultimate consequences on the league as a result of those matchups has been fairly limited.

[QUOTE=TC-MAVS;4300793]Hey, great series. This rivalry is great for the NBA. You played hard and surprised a lot of people. But..........

Deep down the "mavs beat themselves": "balls bounce right in hands"; "weiners hard." As for dallas--"irrelevant"; "sucks"; "sucks"; "suck".

    Absolutely.

And that actually makes a lot of sense, business-wise.

Simply, Mark Cuban CANNOT be the face of the NBA for the average person that watches/buys NBA basketball.
Kobe, Pierce, Wade, James, Nowitski yes.
    Cuban, no.

But Cuban seems to be ALWAYS wanting to be bigger than that.

AS for the Spurs, you don't win 4 rings, if Stern doesn't want you to, even if you are a MODEL organization.

Dig in the past and check out the links with some guy in the Spurs FO.

Will that make you feel better? I don't think so.

    Sports is all about winning.
    Everything else is just irrelevant.

    GTFO girl.

This is Mavs/Spurs we are talking about. Of course there will be trash talking and the likes. To expect anything different is naive at best and makes you sound like a snob.

Hey, great series. This rivalry is great for the NBA. You played hard and surprised a lot of people. But..........

Deep down in your black hearts, you know that the mavs beat themselves. dont fool yourself. Another Dallas collapse, that why your series MVP is Rick Carlisle. Even you were shocked from the high shooting percetages and nights that McDyess and Hill put up. You were shocked to see the 50/50 balls bounce right in your hands. You lucked out when Danny Crawford called game 4 considering we're 2-16 when the guys calls our playoff games.

In all seriousness, You guys know that the end is near and this first round win got your weiners hard and you think that 5 rings is obtainable. Its not happening. So its great that you guys beat us in the first round and you have the bragging rights, again. And i'll wear that. But you were not the better team, and you know that.

As for dallas, they'll be ok. Its a large market team and they;ll ALWAYS be in the mix. As long as cuban is there, we'll be compe ive. you however with your small market and lame fan base, risk losing everything if you are to have consecutive losing seasons. Once Pop is gone, once timmy hangs em up, once gi-nose-bili heads back to argentina, and once Mr. Longoria is finished, you will be once again, a spec on a map and just as irrelevant as you were before you got lucky in the Tim Duncan lottery. Your arena sucks, your town sucks, and even your banners suck. ive seen them from the nose-bleeds. Theyre dirty, the stiching is all messy, and Theyre all uneven and . I think i saw a "your welcome" note from stern attached to one and an asterisk* on another. BUt im not sure. Your "we've got 4 rings" is great, but in 5 years, that comeback will be irrelevent. Nobody will care........ Cowboys fans dont brag abt Superbowls to eagle fans, its the lamest argument in sports. Its in the past, keep living in the past, and you'll have no future results (copywrite 2010, TCMavs)

Enjoy your first round win. But your time is done and you know it. Hey, who knows, maybe the silver stars will make a run or maybe fiesta texas will add a few more rollercoasters. Theres other things to look forward to. Enjoy your mavs win, yay! But the great thing is that the mavs will always be relevant. you however, will be a memory of what used to be in a short amount of time.

you may call me a sore loser, among other things. And maybe I am.....but the truth hurts.

I can't answer all the garbage you wrote here because 95% of it it's just ridiculous but I can tell you that I'm for one don't even live in San Antonio and have never been there either but I'm a huge fan of it's basketball team. I cannot say the same for Dallas, and I've been to Dallas before. How ironic is that?

Also, I didn't know you were playing for Dallas? I didn't see you out there.

And BTW, you are a sore loser.. I may not call you... you are...

So the Spurs beat the Mavs 4 times, and the Mavs only beat the Spurs 2 times...yet the Mavs are the better team????

How did the Mavs beat themselves? By not making shots? If thats the case then every team that loses every game in the history of the league beats themselves. Then those 2 losses that the Spurs had against the Mavs were a result of the Spurs beating themselves according to your ill conceived logic. Dirk will always be known as Tim's . And the Mavs will always be known as a great regular season team that lacks the balls to get it done in the post season.

And LMAO at you talking city smack. Bringing up the greatness of the Dallas Cowboys to try and up lift the Mavs, to try and give them the credibility they lack, to try and give them the respect they'll never have in the NBA, to try and erase the embarassment of 10 years of playoff faliures that everyone knows the Mavs for. Guess what, Im a Spurs and Cowboys fan...4 AND 5 rings got. My sports life has been great...soooo a, you loser!

Mavericks are irrelevant, always have been. As for the clownshoes OP saying the Mavericks will be a force for the rest of their NBA years, you are clueless. Maybe the Spurs org. does drop off considerably when Tim retires, but that doesn't change the fact that the Spurs go down in NBA history for what they have achieved. The Mavericks are nowhere to be found in the history books, aside from being the biggest choke artists of the decade.
