Boston was playing so well earlier in the season when Perkins was out, so what explains their current free-fall?

    Blood pressure.... Rising...

Resting all our hopes on perpetually injured, old centers... Krstic better find a defensive powerup for the playoffs.

Just Rivers quote, hit the link for the whole piece.

Latest Shaq timetable: April 3. Or 5. Somewhere in there.
    Kurt Helin

...He had a shot to ease pain in his foot and has been wearing a boot, which should come off later this week, but Doc Rivers told the Boston Globe not to expect the big man back that fast. Think April 3. Or more likely 5. Or…

“Just being around the game long enough to know when you take a boot off you usually don’t play a day later. I just don’t see him flying on a plane after you get your boot off. I just think that’s unrealistic.

“There’s a better chance (April 3), I still don’t think that’s realistic. I think more the game the day after that would be our target date for Shaq. I would say they’re thinking maybe Atlanta or the first game back, but I think there’s no chance of that.”

    This sounds eerily familiar.
2009: KG will be back with 2 weeks left for the playoffs. KG will be back for the first round. KG will be back second round. KG won't be back and has called it a season. Not good.

I swear, Rivers should sign up to do PR for the government. "We're sure that Shaq will be back in 2 weeks... er... months... look, he's got a good shot of being healthy in September of 2013..."

And wtf is going on with Jermaine? God, the moves by Ainge STILL piss me off. Krstic played well the first few games and now he's playing soft. Someone needs to light into his ass. And Green is lackluster. Blah.

I was bummed that we traded House last year, but Robinson proved himself. Haven't seen that yet from the new guys.

If this is indeed true thats actually a good sign. It means he's just resting for when it counts. We will see.

Doc Rivers says Shaq may not return until playoffs
    Kurt Helin

Okay Boston fans, now you can start to really worry.

Doc Rivers pushed the timeline back for Shaq’s return from an Achilles tendon injury again, this time maybe as far back as the start of the playoffs, friend of the site A. Sherrod Blakely reports at CSN New England. (He also notes the Celtics have apparently been learning from the Bill Belichick injury reports.)

“I really hope we can get him before the playoffs,” said Rivers, who added that the injury is starting to “get close to bleeding” into the teams’ postseason plans.

While the C’s maintain there hasn’t been any setback, they do say it has taken longer to heal than anticipated (isn’t that a setback?)….

“The good thing with him is that he’s still big and strong,” Rivers said. “But that (not playing until the playoffs) would be difficult.”

This will certainly ramp up the complaints about the Kendrick Perkins trade.

The Celtics will get Jermaine O’Neal back, maybe as Thursday night against the Spurs. He will be asked to be the defensive anchor until Shaq returns. Whenever that is.

They said he collapsed in while walking in the back tunnel area.

Shaq hobbled down the corridor to Celtics locker room, barely able to stay on his feet, witnesses say. No word but appears to be heel.

Pistons broadcast says it's a calf injury, unrelated to the achilles (other than maybe Shaq compensating for the achilles).
