    No, it's not. Modell had to leave everything behind, including the team history. As has been pointed out in this thread already, Oklahoma City retains access to the Sonics history.

    In practical terms, it's a completely different franchise: different name, different colors, different city. So if fans want to regard it as such, so be it. But from a legal perspective, the agreement between Modell and Cleveland is slightly different from the agreement between Bennett and Seattle.
