You mean outscored? How was the rebounding? Steals? Blocks?

Rebounds are important as is defense. Dirk has the scoring edge, no doubt, and has the longevity because he's not banging bodies and has a masterful shot, but KG led the league in rebounding 4 years in a row and his scoring was just below 20 a game. They both were chokers, but KG rung first.

Dirk averaged 33 points and 16 rebounds in that playoff series against the mighty KG

Has anybody ever put Dirk in the 5? This thread was just about Kobe

Barkley's top 5 list is definitely contradicting because he makes the argument that Kobe is a better basketball player than Bird/Magic but has Wilt/Russell in the top 5 when there's no way in if you put them against the other top 10 players of all-time that they'd be able to hold their own. It's not their fault, they just aren't as big as modern day athletes, and athleticism usually wins out.

Either way, no one can rank players by number, have to rank them by tier. And like I've said in all my other all-time posts, pretty much players the best 9 players all have a case to be considered the greatest of all-time, but I think it's popular and a smart opinion to have MJ as the definitive #1.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about All-Time Top 5 with the idea that we're talking about the best at each individual position and putting them on the court... e.g. PG, SG, SF, PF, C and not Top 5 of All-Time.

So, no, most people outside of Dallas probably wouldn't put Dirk at the PF position. Then again I don't believe anyone outside of LA would put Kobe at the SG position over Jordan.
