Have you ever experienced one? Have you experienced the distruction that they can cause?

I would rather be in an earthquake than a hurricane or tornado. Tornado I will have a nail fly through my head. A hurricane, a shark may eat my leg. An earthquake...just look out for falling bricks and all that falling stuff.

WHY on God's green earth would people choose to live in California...???
that is a good question. in fact, i ask myself that many times a day.

i felt the earthquake today... at work... in los angeles... in my wobbly old 1930s used-to-be robinsons may building. its a weird feeling. the only other earthquake i have felt was a 4-something a few years back.

i plan on moving back home to san antonio at the end of this year. but part of me has this eerie feeling about all the earthquakes recently. my family says i should just pack up and leave now. .

I don't know what you guys are talking about. All the people here are in Los Angeles and these warnings are supposed to be for North California. I'm a 45 minute drive away from San Fransico and I haven't felt ANYTHING.

    An earthquake, I'm so scared.

Perhaps you should look at this site

    http://www.dis-inc.com/lomaprie.htm and

    http://www.sfmuseum.net/1989/89photos.html

Since you live near SF and assuming your parents did at the time of this quake, maybe you should ask them about that quake

If you know about plate tectonics than you would know there is reason for concern. Obviously you were in the 7th grade and im assuming you didn't go very much into detail about it. Im guessing you can become an expert at plate tectonics after the week you spent studying them in the 7th grade. And quite frankly i dont give a if you are just being sarcastic now. Fact of the matter is once again you got called out and now you are retreating. Typical.

WTF you talking about it's game day I'm not gonna waste my day arguing over plate tectonics. Basically Plate teconics is when the earths plate touch each other and that causes earthquakes. And once again don't take sarcasm so seriously. Tweakers.

Damnit the ground isn't supposed to move.
Maybe you just haven't met the right one yet.

P.S. I'm surprised at the other men on this forum that I get to make this remark so late in the thread

Actually, a string of moderate earthquakes is probably a good thing because it relieves pressure on the faults. I'd be more worried with a long period of no activity.

That's not true at all. That's a very common myth that had been published as fact for a long time. But then was found to be untrue.
