The year was 1986, I took the Greyhound bus from San Antonio to Milwaukee / Chicago with two kilos of coke in a baby blue suitcase....do the math.

It was the longest ride of my life.

The whole ride I thought about my probation officers face.
Reminds me of one of my bus experiences.

This was during the L.A. marijuana drought of '86. I still had a connection with this hippie chick in Santa Cruz. All my friends knew it. So I was always buying for them. Small amounts. Finally, I said, " this ." People were calling me all the time. "Hey, when's the next time you're getting some?" "Mother er, I'm trying to watch Lost Boys. When I have some, I'll let you know." Long story short, I decided to help a friend out and move a pound for him. I'm at the Greyhound station with the brick in a duffel bag. I gotta take a leak so I walk into the mens' room and who's standing there? Six L.A. County Sheriffs and one German Shepherd. All of their eyes are on me. The dog starts barking. He's barking at me. Every nerve ending, all of my senses, the blood in my veins, everything was screaming, "Take off, man, just take off, get the out of there." Panic hit me like a bucket of water. First there was the shock of it...BAM!...right in the face. Then I'm just standing there, drenched in panic. And all of those sheriffs are looking at me. And they know man. They can smell it. As sure as that ing dog can, they can smell it on me. But I keep my cool, take my piss, wash my hands and get the out of there.

I had to take a Greyhound out of Detroit to Northern MI. Made some small talk with the complete stranger sitting next to me for a few minutes, then he took off his jacket and put it over his head. I'm thinking he's going to take a nap, right? Instead he reaches over, grabs my hand, pulls it under the jacket and starts sucking on my fingers before I could pull away. I was only 18, so that was easily one of the weirdest things that had ever happened to me at that point in my life
I think we found that stranger:

I checked Texas Eagle. 10 hr trip coming back. Yikes!
Yeah, that sucks. Back then it took me two days to get to NYC but I was just out of school and didn't have a job or anything so time wasn't a factor.

Let me ask this....did you still have the two kilos of coke when you arrived in Chicago? Or did you share?
Actually my heart rate was off the charts, no real need to get high.

    When you traffic
some that can put you away for at least 5 - 20 years.. your already hyped like a 7th grader using free lunch for the first time.

LOL at the thought of bringing kilos of coke on a Greyhound. They search your bags way more thoroughly than any airport screener; I guess because at the airport you don't need to be worried about getting shanked.

This was 1986 era...dogs only found weed. And the attention was mainly on the borders of Texas not a bus to Milwaukee. You know how many people travel by bus everyday?

I would rather shoot myself in the face as opposed to riding a bus again.

Only been on a greyhound once, and hope to never get on one again. Went to Houston back in 2009, for a last minute Spurs vs Rockets game, so a buddy and I decided not to drive because the weather was really crappy rainy day. The longest 3 hour trip ever, the guy drove like he never wanted to get to Houston, and the bus was leaking water in front of people in front of us, and at times would reach me. After the game we were about to go back on the bus until the bus driver that drove us there ripped the wrong ticket, so the bus driver driving back to SA wouldn't take the ticket the guy was orginally was supposed to take. I had to buy a brand new ticket, luckily the guy hauled ass back to SA in 2 hours, and the Spurs won so I didn't complain.

I take it you didn't take the non stop ride? Huge mistake when I took a bus to Miami. We stopped 10 times before we even left Texas.

Then once we was in Florida it was 15 stops before Miami.

There was one stop in a town called Tallahassee the last time I saw that many black people I was in Cleveland.

I remember one small town the bus station only had vending machines I was hungry and saw a burger joint 6 blocks away. I went to order a burger and 7 minutes later I saw my bus pass in front of me I had to spend a night at the bus station till the next bus came. The town was so small the bus station closed at night so I was outside the whole time.

I wasn't sleepy at all , in fact I knew from that day on I was security guard material.

I've gone from Eagle Pass to San Antonio on it, and back... it was alright, I sat in the front so ehh...

I've never used it after that, I actually use Turimex because I feel more comfortable in those.

    Ok, my experience is over.

    1) No weird people on the bus, except for a lady who brought a big bowl of green beans on the bus. It stunk up the whole bus.
    2) I never used the bathroom on the bus.
    3) Trip was delayed due to traffic in San Marcos & Austin.
    4) Once we arrive in Dallas, there's almost a brawl amongst the cab drivers over who was going to take us to our hotel.
    5) Coming back, there were no problems.

All in all, it wasn't that bad after all. I don't know if we'll do it again anytime soon, but it was fun.

seems anticlimactic. Maybe you could make something up. Like instead of a bowl of green beans, she was carrying a bowl of mouse heads. or something like that. Maybe a box of feet?
