The Spurs will definitely play LA closer than last night in the future. That said, this game is undoubtedly emblazoned into their skulls and it will be a long, long time before anyone forgets it. I won't ever.
The thing is it wasn't just Bynum that did them in. MWP had a MJ-esque performance, the Big 3 played scared, and the Lakers bench managed to keep up with the Spurs' bench. We all know Bynum is dominant, but despite that the Spurs were in it until the above mentioned happened. If yesterday's game is repeated the next two times, then I'll admit Bynum is too big an obstacle to overcome.

See my previous post about moving the goalposts. Your original post seemed to imply that Bynum wasn't usually good and that was the difference in the game. Clearly that wasn't the case.
The loss was demoralizing but I feel the Lakers matchup better against us without Kobe. They will have Kobe in the playoffs.
I'll be more worried if we lose to the Grizz tonight.
some how i dont take solace that kobe wasnt there just another matchup nightmare for sa
Pop will probably puss out and deactivate someone so they have an excuse for losing.
I would if we could be sure that Kobe would come back and start jacking up shot after shot like he always does. If he's smart, he sees ring number six by deferring. The timing really couldn't be better.
World Peace picked up Kobe's scoring without shooting his miserable 43%. Plus its not often Spurs are going to shoot 41% and get outrebounded almost 2-1. Fluke game and a nice wake up call for the Spurs.
Never said he wasn't good; he's nearly as good as Howard. I just don't feel this was an average outing for him. It was a career night after all. When Bynum played more towards his norm the Lakers barely beat the Hornets and lost to Phoenix. Neither of those teams are bigger than the Spurs
He had 23 and 18 against Phoenix. Marcin Gortat and Channing Frye are bigger than Duncan and Blair.
Channing Frye is basically Bonner, while Marcin Gortat is equal to Duncan these days. Tiago Splitter > Robin Lopez. Not sure who else they have as a backup PF.
See my previous post about moving the goalposts. You said they weren't bigger.

This is the Lakers I remember, Chick Hearn interviewing charismatic players and getting gems of quotes. This group these days is a collaboration of egos and sore vaginas.
They aren't. They are the same size at worst.
Edit: Scratch that, Gortat and Frye are the same size as Duncan and Bonner while Splitter = Lopez, but Morris dwarfs Blair. Doesn't change the fact Phoenix raped them with bigs of similar length/girth.

Frye is 6'11 and doesn't have T-Rex arms and can actually hit clutch 3's.
Exactly, until you count Lopez, who's bigger than all of them.
Exactly, until you count Lopez, who's bigger than all of them. And unless you factor in that Blair is starting, and unless you factor in that Bonner is shorter than Duncan, and unless you factor in that Splitter doesn't play that many minutes.
Alright, I'm done for now. Lets revisit the subject after the Spurs play the Lakers again (provided everyone plays or just Kobe sits out again).
Okay going out on a limb. If Pop ran plays to beat the lakers, the guys would get relaxed and get in their mind that
"hey were freaking good", The theme would be in their mind each game and practice.
Now with this blow out ing loss, the guys are thinking
" we still have hard work in front of us, we arent close to the level we need to be", and this is where Pop would rather the team be.
What a mindset coming into the playoffs
You think they're going to allow that with the number of veterans in the team.![]()
Cant say it wont motivate them to practice and train harder, even for the two remaining laker games
Oh yes it will motivate them. That was some ass-spanking.
But to say the Lakers would get relaxed. They're going for that playoff push.
I'd rather the Lakers not get any confidence, so if that was a "strategy" by the great Popovich to have the Spurs show up lethargic and scared, then it was the wrong one.
