who?
According to Basketball Prospectus, Chicago ranked 17th most and San Antonio was 2 slots lower at 19th most games lost to injury. Kevin Pelton actually did the study based on the last 3 years, but for 2011-12, the Bulls and Spurs were only 2 slots apart and nowhere near the number of games lost to injury that Monty Williams' Hornets (3rd most) and Larry Drew's Hawks (5th most) had to deal with.
Weak argument by Ms. Hill since her main premise is based on games lost due to injury. She might have had one of her questions batted-down by Pop in a presser one time...or something. Feelings hurt, perhaps. It happens.
Popovich "just doing his job"? Please. Nobody managed player minutes like Pop did this year and his team still finished tied for the most wins. You know that ain't right, Ms Hill.

who?
Everyone knew D. Rose wasn't right this year. They really should have brought him back more gradually.
The one place the Bulls have depth is at point guard. They could easily have found minutes for someone else at the end of that game.
"absolutely did not deserve..." What a ing fool.
I don't think it's so black and white as you portray it to be. It's tough to win an NBA le and it depends largely on luck. You can't say that losing in the finals or western conference finals is on the same level as being booted in the first round. Both cases are failing to win the le, but it's in different fashion. Especially considering how many tough teams there are to beat in a 7 game series, such as the Lakers, Thunder, and Heat. If a western conference team wins it this year, they will have had a very tough road to the le.
I think it's different for coaches of different teams though. If you fail to win the le with a prime LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, then yes you failed.
All that and he still ain't on Spurs Talk? Ha Quality Take
By Him
Guys quit bashing her. Nobody ever takes what she says seriously anyway.![]()
i doubt she get an interview with pop, its easy to talk when ur gettin spoonfed script
Great. Yet another ESPN hater.![]()
Embarrassment of riches is exactly what most people would have called a starting lineup that included D-leaguer Danny Green, a waived Boris Diaw and an unknown rookie named Cow-eye. Yeah right.
This is literally the first time I have ever heard of her. Her opinion means absolutely nothing to me.
So then Thibbs didn't deserve it last year. He simply did his job, and with an MVP playing all season, he should have the best record in the league.
Besides, it's a man's world, . You just live in it.
She says Pop is the best coach in the NBA then says, he doesn't deserve COY honors. Isn't the COY supposed to be for the best coach, whether or not he "does his job?" Isn't that a double standard?
"embarassment of riches" I didin't know we had Lebron, Dwayne and Bosh on our team.
Impossible to say, but if I had to put money on it I would bet he would have had a lesser chance to tear the ACL under Pop. I am however a lot more confident that his condition would have been better managed by the Spurs team (from conditioning to potential rehab).
As for the original post.
I understand the point she is trying to make, but the facts she uses actually speak to the opposite of her thesis. The "embarassement of riches" is probably the worst while the games missed by Rose is just sloppy journalist work. What is funny is that I thought this year Pop actually was extraordinary - which for a coach that is already pretty good when "he just does he job" is quite an amazing achievement.
Bad column either out of lazyness or to create traffic on her page.
to say winning COY you should back that up by winning the championship in the same year is foolish
anything is possible in the playoffs, while the COY is awarded base on how a coach does in the regular season then what equates in the playoffs......
most of the awards handed out are base on regular season play, seriously they should change it and either have it base on playoffs as well or have seperate awards for RS AND PO.....
Can't believe that POS had the Spurs beating the Jazz in 7 games.
She must be getting boned by a Bulls player.
^ this
, get back in the kitchen and fix me a sammich!![]()
Jemele Hill is the worst thing to happen to espn...her racial agenda is ing tiring.
She even said the Colts should draft RG3 over Luck...so that tells you all you need to know about her sports knowledge.
Hedo says hi.
her coach of the year will get raped by the Philadelphia 76ers...
Overall I have to say Pop has done a masterful job this year and fully deserves the award. He may not have made the moves he needed to make in timely fashion, but in the end they got done and he got his veterans to the playoffs healthy and has kept them healthy (so far, knock on wood). Thibs can't claim the same. And even if Rose was still healthy, I'd say she's still full of something (Amare Stoudemire's ?).
She's just another two-bit bitter ESPN writer who loves NY and hates small market teams like the spurs and also the fact that she doesn't have the power to hand them a trophy every year.
