Side note: Curry was actually just ranked as the worst player in the league by ESPN's NBArank.

I was not aware of this.

Hopefully under the guidance and example of Duncan he would be inspired to change and challenge himself for the first time in his career.

Well ..... Spurs fans have wanted a bigman. He's big.

Honestly, I like the signing. For a training camp invite, he has a lot of potential. 95% chance he doesn't amount to anything but a 29-year-old seven-footers with talent don't grow on trees. Again, he'll likely not even make the team -- but at least there's upside with him.
Exactly. At least they brought a true center to camp and one who used to be a rotation player in the league, as opposed to some career D-League scrub. And as you said, he's still only 29. He's also a young 29, considering his lack of mileage.

If they're just looking for a big body to throw against Howard though, then I think Magloire is a better option. Technically, he's in Raptors camp, but their roster is set, so he has no chance to make their team. He's a much better post defender and rebounder than Curry. Zero ball skills to speak of and not a modi of athleticism or mobility left, but who cares? We're talking about a guy who'd be used less than sparingly.

I think Pop has been wandering around Spurs talk again...and is now in full troll mode.

"So fans don't like the roster and want bigger players? Hey R.C....I heard Eddy Curry is unemployed. Let's invite him to camp. If the fans want size, I'll oblige them."

I am not against this move at all, but why swing for the fences on Curry but not Blatche? Assuming both of them get their acts in line and live up to their potential, Blatche is younger and a better fit next to Tim. I can't complain because this is a high reward no risk scenario, but it is just odd. I pray that the FO has some inside track on Curry and he finally becomes what he always should have been. Lets see what he has got!

Cause Curry is simply here for camp trying to make the team and I am 99.9% sure Blatche was only going to come if signed to a yearly contract...No big deal really just another over the hill player trying to rejuvinate his career.

My first reaction to hearing the name "Eddy Curry" this morning was definitely a negative one, but I'll generously go into "wait and see" mode. If he sucks in the preseason, they can easily cut him.

Low risk... whatever.... we just need some weight/height so that dwight doesn't score every single time down the floor on us! Our offense will be fine.

    this .

We didn't go for Darko, because he is slow and not athletic(and can't finish outside the paint, but a really good and versatile defender) Now we signed a fat ass, who very far from Spurs material and can't even do anything in neither side of the floor(not even finishing in the paint).
In the meantime, the Lakers signed CDR to fill their last foggy spot in their roster.
    GG, FO!!

As much as I hate to say this, I would've rather had Darko than this guy. The Spurs only have themselves to blame. They waited around all summer until there were no bigs left.

It's not a good sign for where Curry stands to begin camp when Pop says:

“I didn’t know much about Eddy Curry and he did come into camp lighter than I thought he would."
