WHAT?!
Well ..... Spurs fans have wanted a bigman. He's big.
Honestly, I like the signing. For a training camp invite, he has a lot of potential. 95% chance he doesn't amount to anything but a 29-year-old seven-footers with talent don't grow on trees. Again, he'll likely not even make the team -- but at least there's upside with him.
Kori Ellis has a funny story relating to Eddy Curry and the Spurs...
I've been praying for this day... They might as well start designing the rings. We STAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEDDD DDDDDDDDDD

I'm not making this up: Eddy Curry, in #Spurs camp, looks relatively fit. Claims he dropped another 15 lbs., played all summer at Miami U.
Yup.
Game, over, NBA.
dude's in town just to eat tacos.
Eddy and Dejuan in the same town?! They bout to shut Whataburger DOWN!
Keep Dejuan away from Eddy and vice versa.
Bad things and whataburger are bound to happen.

I feel dumb liking this move but I do. Bigs peak at around 29-30. Curry's problem the last half decade or whatever has been discipline in terms of putting basketball first. The Spurs could use size in the middle, especially size that can score. He can't rebound but neither can Bonner (or Blair on the defensive end). Curry isn't a defender but just standing in the paint could improve San Antonio's interior defense.
I'd give Curry the following chances:
90% doesn't make the team
5% makes the team but as a deep, deep reserve
5% helps out
I bet they are slaughtering cows left and right today.
Dwight Howard vs Eddy Curry, marquee matchup material
The guy has lost nearly 100 lbs and seems motivated. Maybe he'll turn out to be a surprise. I won't hold my breath but he seems to have done all the things necessary to get on the right track
Dude's not going to survive the welcome wagon. Breakfast taquitos with Blair, sandwich hunting for lunch, heart attack for dinner.
Bill Miller's needs an NBA spokesman.
Well, there are very few good centers so getting one for the training camp isn't easy. Even a player as bad as Luke Zeller got invited to a camp (with the suns). I rather see Spurs giving a try to Curry than signing a no-upside center like Zeller.
So it's a nice signing for a training camp invite even if Curry doesn't really fit with improving the defense that should be Spurs first priority.
