Wake me up when he can hit 4 or 5 threes and bust a playoff game open.

    Jon > Bones
    Game 1 VS Phoenix.

Wake me when Jon shows up in a game 7.

Brent played his best when his team most needed it...Jon played his worst.

That game was over after the first quarter..when the chips are down he hesitates on open shots. I saw it time and time again in the playoffs and that game 7 you call his best he had 5 points and 2 assists

Bottom line..you signed Bones because the team wanted a shooter after the Lakers exposed the weakness. He has not lived up to the expectations and it was up to Horry and Bowen to make the big 3's

Honestly Jon would fill the role better

Come again? We had just been outscored by 10 in the 3rd quarter and entered the 4th trailing by 4...not only did he hit the shot that gave us the lead...he went 5-5 in that quarter.

That was a game 1 on the road against the team with the best record in the NBA, that was a must win game against the team that eliminated the team that eliminated your team.

And you never saw anything...Barry graded out as the clutchest shooter in the regular season and the playoffs for the spurs...

He shot 66% in clutch situations in the regular season, and he shot 75% in those situations in the playoffs.

Horry is one of the clutchest players in NBA history and Bowen is a playoff tested veteran and also a former 3 point champion...

There's no crime done there...and Barry didn't shoot that badly this season...if he had made 12 more 3 pointers he would have shot 40% for the season...right on his career average.

Honestly Jon would fill the role better
I wanted Jon Barry instead Brent at the beginning...and there were reasons for it, mainly that Jon was used to that role and brings a lot of energy...but anyone that thinks Brent is some kind of heartless choking is a fool, who doesn't have a good grasp of the game.

And I told you this during the regular season and it was proven to be true in the finals.

As 3 point shooters the Barry's are just about equal...Jon is a very good 3 shooter and he is used to that specialist role since that is what he has done his entire career.

Jon is much more of an energy guy.

Brent is infinitely more talented, versatile and plays a smarter game...he has to adjust to being a role player and playing defense...

He had to make a major adjustment to a lesser role this season and it was a struggle...but he was there all season long when it mattered...when the Spurs needed him to step up due to injury and must win games and what not...he never failed to respond, even when he was being asked to do thing that had never been asked of him before(like turn into a scorer).

He'll never be an energy guy...but he proved his worth in the deciding game of the finals...when our backup PG all season was dropped from the rotation and Brent's versatility and smarts showed their worth.

Jon= fire energy and 3 point shooting

Brent = smart versatile play and 3 shooting...

I like Jon's fire...but I don't like how he all of a sudden starts thinking he is the man and trying to create his own shot and jacking up bad ones...He did that late in your playoff series...

You don't get as much fire with Brent but you do get smart play and a guy who can fill a variety of roles well, who knows who the stars are on this team and who tries to get them going, always...and a guy who continually stepped up in the most pressure filled moments of our season, all season long...regardless of how he looked doing it.

It's like comparing apples and oranges...if you had asked me last season I would have said Jon...and I still like Jon...but Barry proved what he is made of all season long...he does have heart and he can be counted on when the heat is on...given that he is more talented and versatile, I am quite happy with him right now.

My mistake..going over the playoff stats that was his one breakout game in the playoffs. Up until the WCF he had just about been a no show. He needs a wide open offense where he can catch & shoot in transition. I dont think its a coincidence that his best games were against the suns

He shot 66% in clutch situations in the regular season, and he shot 75% in those situations in the playoffs.
Where did you get these numbers?? i dont believe them

Maybe its unfair but he was brought in to hit the pressure type shots Hedo couldnt. At the time SJax was available and proven but pop went with Bones.

Manu, Horry have that assasin type mentality and do not hesitate when they have daylight on a shot. Jon has this quality aswell..his brother thinks to much and this year his stand still shooting from 3 was exposed

He's not a terrible player, but the consensus among fans around the league is that his game has regressed

That is the Spurs and Stephen Jackson's fault...not Brent Barry's...and Stephen Jackson was miserable against the Pistons as his team was being eliminated.

The consensus is wrong...He may have struggled to find his role on this team but it was never about his heart or willingness to take the big shots.

I think he likes the big shots, it's the others he had a problem with...

And no one was calling Horry an assassin after last years playoffs.

Oh...and Jon's big series came against the Mavs...they're not a whole lot different than the Suns.

    Bring him on in.

At least take a shot, instead of rocketing the pass tot he other side of the court.
