HOW did you install the custom recovery (TWRP)
?
Download this http://goo.gl/T6GsJ
install the .apk on your phone
you will be able to install bootimg from inside android.
basically you open the app, hit browse point it to the rom you want to install, it will extract the kernel, flash it, then ask you if you want to reboot. Say yes, reboot to recovery (TWRP) install the rom as usual
?????
Profit!
Well I used the HTC all in one toolkit (from an XDA dude); after unlocking the bootloader, you select a recovery from a list (or you can add your own in that list) and click "go"
Interesting, thanks
I will try that tonight or this weekend; I need a break from pulling my hair out in front of my laptop
No problem, it happens. Just so you know, though, you shouldn't even need your laptop for this. You can DL the apk directly to your phone, install it on your phone, and assumedly you have the ROM already on your SD card (from when you installed it earlier). You could do this whole thing from your phone.
Ah thats right; Ive DLed apks straight to my phone in the past, silly me
THanks
let me know how it works out.
It was Chicago, then DC.
I live in the bay area now, close to Google's HQ.
I have heard Sprint is great in Cali
Damn, you move around a lot
Ok, that makes more sense, they are supposed to be upgrading the 3g backhaul at the same time as they are installing LTE on the towers. Nationwide, they have 3 different contractors doing the work (if I remember correctly: Samsung, Lucent, Ericksson). The region that includes Texas is being upgraded by Ericksson and they realized that they don't have enough parts to upgrade 3g, so they are just doing the LTE work, then will come back later and upgrade 3g. Everywhere else is getting that sweet 1.5 Mbps 3g.
I will
In the meantime Ill be browsing XDA forums, but ill take my time, just to make sure I dont do anything stupid
I am loving this damn S3 never thought id leave my iphone but no regrets here android os has come a lonnnnnng way since the last time I took a look at it.
LOL, you too!?!?
Yup. I like where I'm at now though, probably staying here for a long time. Snowboarding in Tahoe this break... can't beat that!
Updaaaaaaaaate, mother ers !!!!!!!!!!
Turns out my major issues - no Wifi, recent JB roms not booting up after flashing them (stuck at HTC welcome screen) were caused by the fact that my phoneis S-ON with HBOOT 1.13 or higher
Which means that I have to flash a ROM boot.img (the rom kernel) via my PC
I just found that out today (but hey Im a noob and HTC phones are harder to hack than other brands)
So I found a tutorial to do that step, but you have to download a file, enter commands to install it properly, then plug phone to PC, enter other commands.... I didnt feel loke doing all that TBH
But I accidentally found a thread about an Play Store app that does that for the user(Flash Image GUI)
All you have to do is select the ROM you want to flash, it will locate the kernel and flash it
Then go in Recovery, flash the ROM and gapps, and voila !
Not only the most recent ROMS will boot up, but I got my WIFI back too !

I still think the Iphone is a very solid phone, but the whole IOS experience is getting a little stale for me. For the first time I didn't upgrade to the newest Iphone dating back to the 3G. I am IOS'd out between Iphones and Ipads. The buy one get one deal with spring for $199 was a no brainer for me. My gf was anticipating returning the S3 but she loves it after I taught her how to use it. Her Iphone 4 just quit working one day stopped powering on so the timing was perfect for this Sprint deal.
Apple stopped innovating a long time ago. They're coasting now, and losing ground every month to Android.
I hope Windows can start gaining ground in the mobile marketplace. Would be nice to have a 3 way compe ion for customers.
are you ing kidding me?
Oh I totally forgot about your link. sorry
Thats because I was doing so much research on the internetz about why I had no WIFI and wasnt able to use recent JB roms ....which led me to the thread about the app
Again I'm really sorry![]()
Don't worry, it is better for you that you "found it by yourself". I usually tell people to go read up on stuff anyway, but I know how frustrating that can be so I thought I would grease the wheels a little. Apparently, the grease I was using was actually sand though :stompsoffindignantly
Anyway, thanks for your help
JellyBAM is pretty awesome
Its also my 1st taste of Jelly Bean(since HTC plans to release it in North America in 3025)
It combines features of CM, AOKP and Paranoidandroid
I had JellyBam on my S2 but for me it combined too much and ran a little slower than I wanted (plus I don't use the features of ParanoidAndroid).
I went back to Vanilla Rootbox AOKP tbh.
I have run PA on my Evo3D. It's good enough, but I feel like the screen is a little small for its specific features. I am on an unofficial CM right now (since the 3d is a bas stepchild and no one wants to dev for it). It works good enough, but my battery is getting worse and worse. I unplug at 6:30 and get my 14% warning at about 9:15. Of course the battery is 2 years old.
